Juggling Pregnancy and Professional Gardening

Finally registered so I can comment with my experience of pregnancy as a professional gardener with 2 companies to run.

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and am just winding it down now the past 2 weeks. I am still doing 3 days setting up other staff and managing projects on site. I still get roped into pruning, lifting and weeding etc as it's so easy to do when you are on site but I'm promising to stop that now. The other days, and evenings and weekends I do consultations, plant deliveries, designs, plans and invoicing. So much to keep me busy from home still but I really need to stop the 3 days and focus on prep for baby now will dedicate 2 days a week completely off.

I also have a 2.5 year old toddler! I worked till 36 weeks with him but it was over the winter months... still busy as hell but mainly orchard pruning and rose pruning and training etc so not as physical as this summer pregnancy.

I do what I can to keep busy, active and productive, but definitely wish I'd been off from 30 weeks to get prepared physically and mentally and organised for what's to come. I'm sure I'll still get it all done but it would have been nicer to have had more time, especially as I will be using Hypnobirthing again which needs chill time and mental prep!

Just always interested to hear from other ladies with very physical jobs and how they cope in the last trimester. I constantly compare myself to expectant mums saying they worked right up until their due date etc and feel I'm not doing enough. But seriously, who'd want to be on their hands and knees or bend double etc so late on? We are only human! Well 2 humans really...

Hope this sharing helps relate to other mums in a similar position x

I'm only 28 weeks and I will be finishing one job at 30 and the at 34 weeks although a lot of that is annual leave. They are the same physical job but with 2 different companies. I'm measuring quite big and can barely crouch down, or if I can get to the floor I can't bloody get back up again. Doesn't help I work in a noisy, smelly environment with lots of things around that can be dangerous to a pregnant woman. Not to mention the bloody SPD and gastritis. I too feel crappy about going so early but I just can't physically do my job properly anymore and I'm tired and miserable
