Hi all.

Not posted for a while as since around 17 weeks my pregnancy has actually been great! No more sickness, hurrah!

However......!!!

I am now 21 weeks and for about 2 weeks I have been suffering with not only sacral back pain but also some form of insomnia. I have no problems falling to sleep when I go to bed, however I am awake at the exact same time each night (1:30 am) and just cannot get back to sleep. I've resorted to just getting up at 3am every morning and sitting downstairs as I just get so frustrated!

It's really having an impact on my performance at work. I can't concentrate and feel SO tired I could practically fall asleep standing up (I luckily have a desk job so that won't happen!).

Has anyone else suffered from this "pregnancy insomnia" (if it's even a thing!).... I feel like once one symptoms goes another one shows up!

Xx

I’m 16 weeks now and I haven’t slept through the night since about week 7 Sad typically I wake up around 3 am and that’s it, although if I’m lucky I’ll drop off again around 6... on bad nights I’m awake from 2 onwards. It sucks big time!

Here too. I’ve always been a light/poor sleeper, and to some extent my body has normalised this so I cope well with only 4-5 hrs.

But since about 13w, I’ve been waking at about 1-2am and then really struggling to get back to sleep.

I’m still able to function in the day, although I’m knackered by about 7pm. But it doesn’t seem to make any difference what time I go to bed. I deliberately stayed up until 1130 last night, but STILL woke at 1!

I’m now on reduced hours at work following a review of my maternity risk management plan, so only doing 8-12, thank god. I’m not in a safety critical role or anything. So hopefully I can just have a nap in the afternoon to top me up.

Guess it really is preparation for a baby!!! 🤷‍♀️
