Blocked Nose & Short of Breath during pregnancy

Hi,

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and for the last 2-3 days my nose has been blocked /congested. I also feel really short of breath and I don't have a cold at all.

Just wondering if this is common during pregnancy? And if anyone has any advice.

Thanks

Yes, dead normal. Look forward to accompanying nosebleeds, and get some ear plugs for your partner if you have one, because it is likely that you're snoring.

Hey @AR23 - yes apparently this is normal in pregnancy. I've been suffering from blocked nose and sneezing a fair bit for the last few weeks - I'm 9 weeks. They say it passes after birth! 🙈 Feels like a I have hayfever without the streaming eyes! X

Oh great :( I feel like my lungs are going to pop out from struggling to breathe. Been trying to blow my nose but with no luck.

Me too and I'm 16 weeks!! I was walking yesterday and felt like I was running a marathon 🤣🤣

If you're really struggling see your midwife - could be low iron, for example.

I felt the same around the same gestation.

Sounds mad, but try drinking more water, shortness of breath can be linked to dehydration. With this heat, you might need to up your fluid intake. It helped me, that and deep slow breathing. X

ballsdeep your body is working as hard as if your were running a marathon 24/7 for the whole of your pregnancy.

Aww thank you everyone. I've been drinking lots of water, like 2 litres a day. My nose opens up for like 30 mins which feels blissful until it becomes blocked again :(

I could've written this a few weeks ago Sad if it's any consolation it will get better! I'm 22 weeks now and my nose is a lot clearer though I'm still snoring apparently, and snorting 😂 just take everything slowww, drink lots of water and rest as much as you can. Now's a good time to take the lift instead of the stairs!

Thanks everyone. Just reporting back in case this helps anyone in the future/provides reassurance.

So I went to see a GP regarding the congestion and being short of breath, he checked my oxygen levels etc and everything was fine.

Also sent me for a blood test to check iron, just got my results and everything is perfect, so not low on that.

Yes same. It was keeping me up at night and i was spending hours just blowing my nose. So the doctor prescribed me beconease spray which has worked wonders.

It states out just being a bit stuffy and breeding to blow my nose a little more often. Them a few weeks ago or became unbearable.

I'm very out of breath and still blocked nose (not as bad, but there in the mornings) at 30 weeks.

AR23 · 30/08/2019 17:52

Awww, I never snore but it's causing me to snore now, I woke up myself up from the sound of my own snoring haha!
