Private room at St Richards Chichester

Hi does anyone know how much it costs to get a private room after the birth at St Richards? I can't find the info in their leaflets online. I know they don't let you book in advance but depending on the cost I'd like the option so my partner can stay more comfortably after the birth. I'd obviously like to plan ahead though for the cost.

Hi @Newmumatlast. I can't answer this but would also like to know (I'll be going to Worthing and assume they'll be the same cost).

I had a caesarean in Worthing a couple of months ago and it was £100 a night.
I didn't book one for first night but staying on the ward was awful and I got no sleep so I asked for one for second night. Luckily I got to go home instead, but if you can afford it I would definitely recommend!
I imagine Chichester would be about the same but your midwife should know.

@plixy thank you. I'll ask my midwife. I also wanted to try and work out how long you are allowed it for to judge how worthwhile it is. I read somewhere that if someone needs it for medical reasons you may have to give it up but I'm presuming depending upon how long you've been in there you wouldnt have to pay full fee if hadn't really used it for long?!

No one mentioned to me that I might have to give it up, I wouldn't have been happy to be chucked out!
Going home was definitely the best option for me though, I hated being in!

I’m afraid I have no experience of this particular hospital but there was a similar setup at the hospital I gave birth in. For me, the ward was awful and we had to stay quite a while so we were desperate for a private room, but there were none available the whole time we were there. So I would say, it’s great to look into it and budget for it, but (assuming they are not pre-bookable at your hospital, as you don’t think they are and they weren’t at mine) don’t get your heart too set on the idea in case you end up really disappointed. It might also be good to plan how you could make yourself as comfortable as possible if you do end up having to stay in a ward.
