Bedside cribs- snuz snuzpod or shnuggle air

SRK16 · 24/08/2019 18:34

I’ve been looking ta bedside cribs and aside from the fact that they both have vomit inducing names, I like the look of both of these. Shnuggle Air seems quite new on the market so there are limited reviews which is making it harder to make a decide.
Has anyone tried either of these, if so what did you think? Thanks!

Anyone? Or the tutti bambini?
I know this isn’t strictly pregnancy related but wasn’t sure where else to post it and thought some of you may be having similar dilemmas!

Buy a second hand Chico next to me and a new mattress.

Use the rest of the money to book yourself in for a lovely post pregnancy massage.

Sassy306 · 24/08/2019 22:29

Not heard of them but i did have a chico next to me crib...its was absolutely brilliant and my best baby purchase by far. I managed to keep her in it til 8 months and was actually sad to see it go lol

chipscheesegravy · 24/08/2019 22:31

I've got the chicco next to me crib too. There's money off them in mothercare this weekend!

MoodLighting · 24/08/2019 22:33

Next2me was great and cheaper and bigger than Snuzpod

blueskiesbrighteyes · 24/08/2019 22:33

Get a non branded one off amazon. It will do exactly the same job but a lot cheaper!

Stormblessed · 24/08/2019 22:38

I loved the look of the snuzpod but it seemed a bit small and expensive for how long it would last. We ended up with the tutti bambini cozee and it's been great x

TokenGinger · 24/08/2019 22:46

I second the Chicco Next2Me. We had a cheaper one off Amazon and it didn't do the trick for DS. The mattress was like lying him on a paving slab and the side didn't come down. DS wanted to be touching us in some way so the Next2Me worked perfectly.

We paid £150 for ours when Argos had money off because we were sleep deprived and desperate but if I could go back to when I was pregnant and had time to wait, I'd buy a second hand one and new mattress.

mummymummymummummum · 24/08/2019 22:55

I love my Snuzpod! It has just been put away after it's second 6 month stint.

ELM8 · 24/08/2019 23:02

A lot of colleagues swore by the snuzpod so we've gone with that.. baby not here yet so it's still in the box for now!

thetinytyrantsmother · 24/08/2019 23:08

Another here for the Next2Me. My db and dsil now have ours and we're waiting for it back for Baby no.2. My db's purchased it for us and have both had their money back as they've also used it with their dc, the whole family swears by it!

aliensprig · 25/08/2019 08:32

We just got a second hand snuzpod and I LOVE IT. If you have a big bedroom with lots of space, get a Chicco nexttome, but if not the Snuzpod is more compact and looks better (imo, not that that matters). If you're buying anything secondhand, always get a new mattress.

HJWT · 25/08/2019 09:04

We got this one of amazon! They all do the same thing and you would be better spending the extra money elsewhere x

I would check on fb market place. These are the kind of things people get rid of as so short lived. I got a tutti bambini thingy for £80 pretty much perfect condition. So glad i didn't pay the £165 (usually£185) at the time at mothercare thinking that would be a good deal!

voxnihili · 25/08/2019 10:09

We had a snuzpod and loved it. DD slept great in it and was in it for 6 months. She had plenty of room even though she's over 90th centile for length. We only stopped using it as she started to try and climb out so we had to move her to the cot.

SRK16 · 25/08/2019 10:30

Argh I can’t decide! 😫
Thank you all for responding. Any reasons why I absolutely shouldn’t buy one of them/major flaws in the products?!

@SRK16 No the snuz pod has rave reviews on youtube, if you have the money to spend and want that because it looks nicer then go for it! Its just the name that makes it more expensive x

TakingtheLeap · 25/08/2019 21:43

Worth taking into account the height of your bed too. We got the SnuzPod because we have a very very low bed, and it was the only one we found with a low enough setting to have the side down safely. Conversely the Chicco I think fits a much higher bed.

I love the SnuzPod BUT my very long girl looks like she'll be outgrowing it before 6 months...! 🤦‍♀️

SRK16 · 25/08/2019 22:34

@Takingtheleap think this is one of my concerns- baby is measuring big and my husbands side of family we’re all long babies! Don’t want it to outgrow it too fast given the cost

Chicco is much cheaper for a bigger cot. I loved mine and will use for number 2.

Some people say the snuzpod lift off bit isn't that useful a feature but I've not had one.

SRK16 · 25/08/2019 23:26

Thinking to go with the snuzpod but wondering if there are any cheaper sheets I can use with it? Any ideas?

We had a Snuzpod (gift from ILs) and loved it. Mainly used it attached to the bed but it was wonderful. I loved being so close to DS yet still get the comfort of staying in my bed.

Pros
Easy to put together.
The sleep section lifts off if you want to use it as a Moses basket.
The mattress was very comfortable for him, he slept really well in it.
Closeness to baby.
Height was great, we have a divan bed with drawers and it was level with our mattress.
Mothercare do an own brand range of sheets that fit it for much less than the official brand.

Cons
Never used it as a Moses basket. It’s quite bulky/heavy to move and we’d have to undo the straps attached to the bed so we left it attached.
DS was getting too bit for it by 6 months (about 16lbs and 62cm long) but thankfully he was ready to move to his room and proper cot by then.
Resale value is low, there are lots of them on gumtree/EBay going unsold if that’s a consideration.

Overall if I had to decide again, I would still get it. He slept well in it, which helped me sleep well and I loved the closeness.

SRK16 · 26/08/2019 08:41

@Flamingo84 that is so helpful, thank you for taking the time! Can I ask which range of mothercare sheets you used?

OP posts:
Flamingo84 · 26/08/2019 08:49

You’re welcome. they do a range of Mothercare cot sheets, crib sheets and next to bed sheets.

You can compare the measurements of whatever one you end up getting with the different ones in the range. I think it was the crib sheets that fit ours but worth checking.

MissPepper8 · 26/08/2019 12:28

We had a Snuzpod for DS, he stayed in it until he was 7 months. It was really handy with the side zip (especially since I had an emergency c section and I struggled to lift him), you could feed and slide baby in really easily, Also really good for soothing him, didn't have to put my hand over as we attached ours to our bed.

Expecting baby 2 next year and I'll be using ours again.
