Hyperemesis and work

Has anyone been signed off for months due to this and then returned to work? I've been off work for most of august and due to return to work in September but in no fit state at all. I'm just over 8 weeks and still stuck in bed with nausea and vomiting even though I'm on medication.
Im debating what to do about work as I have no cover for me while I'm off. I'm worried about the amount of work stacking up and the stress of going back as from reading up on hyperemesis i could be unfit for work for another few weeks or couple months at least.

I had 3 months off. Many wen have more. I know it’s not easy to say, but try not to worry about work. Your health is more important.
For what it’s worth, I struggled on with my first pregnancy. My hg lasted a lot longer than it did this time (second pregnancy) and I’m sure that’s because I took the time off & looked after myself properly.
Pop over to the hyperemesis thread for some excellent support & advice 💐

I was signed off weeks 6-36 when I went on maternity leave with my first, my work got a temp in to replace me and were very supportive. It allowed me to focus on keeping me and my baby alive (I couldn't do much else!). Don't push yourself to go back, it will only make it worse.

@HGpg I feel like that's gonna be me at this rate. Unfortunately the company I work for aren't like that and already asking when I'm coming back and I said I dont know. Starting to stress out now.

I've been signed off work for another month due to hyperemesis. I really dont know what to do as no one is covering my work but I am physically not able to work at the moment. I feel like quitting but just so torn on what to do.

They cannot penalise you for pregnancy related illness.

You want to receive you MAT pay.

Stop worrying about them and think of you and baby. If there's a massive pile of work when you eventually make it back you do what you can and that's it. If it's too much you get signed off again.

I was signed off sporadically with HG and then PGP/SPD throughout.

(And then I resigned while on MAT leave Blush)
