Major placenta previa- HELP!

So I had my 18 week scan and was told my placenta is borderline low lying then I had to have a rescan at 22 weeks as they couldn't check the face in the previous one due to stubborn baby💁🏻‍♀️ at the 22 week scan they told me my placenta completely covers my cervix - obviously they say it is common for it to move up but it just seems mine has gone further down! Has anyone been through this/any knowledge? It's my first pregnancy and I'm terrified I'll have to have a c section. Any advice would be very much appreciated xx

I had the same at my early scans. Just had a scan at 36 weeks and the placenta had moved up - a lot of worry about nothing! I was told it moves up in around 90% of cases where it starts off low. As far as I know there's nothing you can do to help it so just try to think positive Thanks xxx

I was one of the few whose didn’t move. I started having bleeds at 30 weeks and was admitted each time for a few weeks until it settled. After the third (33 weeks) I was kept in hospital and had an EMCS at 36 weeks.

Chances are very high that it will move by 36 weeks so try not to worry now. If it doesn’t, you will be well looked after and baby will be fine. If at any point they think baby is being affected by the bleeds then you’ll deliver early but c sections really aren’t anything to fear.

I do understand that it’s scary, I really do, but wanted to show that the ‘worst case scenario’ is very manageable.

That should have said ‘few days’ not ‘weeks’!

I had it & had scan on Monday & it has moved up already, I had full coverage and it was right in the birth canal

I had PPM and was also one of the ones where it doesn't move. It is still very rare and moves with most people.

However I just wanted to share that although I had a similar story to the PP, and had 10 bleeds, starting just before 25 weeks, my daughter is now 11 months and perfectly healthy and happy.

I was hospitalised at 28 weeks and had an emergency c-section at 33+4. It was scary but you will be watched so closely and a c-section is not as bad as it sounds. I just wanted baby to arrive the safest way for her. I was given steroids to help the baby, just in case she did arrive early.

The odds are more in your favour for it to move. I also know somebody (close family member) who had PPM and had no issues whatsoever, just has a c-section at 38 weeks. So there are positive outcomes.

I hope everything goes well for you x

I had it diagnosed at my 20 week scan. It didn't move so I had an ELCS at 39 weeks. Had no bleeds or other problems although obviously it was worrying.

My c section went smoothly and recovery was quick. Hopefully yours will move as something like 80-90% do before 32 weeks.
