From 32 weeks pregnant every month I have had thrush. Literally a week before my monthly I get it. When I was pregnant I went straight to the doctor and they gave me daktarin 2%. Which worked after a few days and being so regimental about blotting not wiping. And having a shower and not using anything. Having to wash my hair separate. Now it’s making no difference. Every month there it is and my poor husband dealing with my pmt, 8 month old teething and then me going mental not scratching the life out me hoo ha. So the daktarin still works but I still have to put up with it for a couple of days. Any one else have this or offer any remedies to help keep it at bay. I can’t win. Nothing I do seems to stop it. Doctors just look and go oh yes you have thrush. Here’s a prescription. It’s actually really getting me down. Xx

Has your husband been treated too? If you are sexually active I think you could be passing it between the two of you.

Are they swabbing to confirm it is thrush?
If so then you would be a good candidate for suppression therapy which is with fluconazole. If you don’t have any luck with your gp then go to a sexual health clinic. We deal with recurrent thrush all the time.

You poor thing! I just went through a bout of thrush as well so I know how horribile it is (currently 32 weeks pregnant). My sister gets it quite regularly and she swears by natural yoghurt (no sugar). I used that as well but mine was quite vicious so I had to supplemnt with cream as well. But the yoghurt def makes it feel better so try that perhaps? I also found that an ice pack there helped to ease the itchiness and soreness and gave me some relief!

Yes after a couple of times we did think it might have been something he was using or our washing powder obviously as we changed everything for the baby. I even bought some specific washing liquid for my clothing. My husband went to the docs and he has nothing wrong. It’s just my ph levels and nothing is working.

I have bought some ph test strips and my ph is too high.

Sorry to contradict the pp but research studies have shown that yoghurt doesn't properly treat thrush. It might feel soothing but it can also introduce other bacteria to the vagina so don't use it.

Follow the advice of the earlier pps and go to a specialist sexual health clinic and ensure you get a proper course of suppression therapy with oral flucanozole. Your husband can take an oral tablet too just to be on the safe side - there's no downside for him to do that.

Taking a strong probiotic daily might help reset your system a bit, although the evidence for that is sketchy. Could be worth a try though.

*in addition to the proper medicine

You can get vaginal probiotics online, I think, i.e. capsules you insert rather than take orally (they're a well-known thing in France). Worth a try, as they should help repopulate the vaginal flora which in turn should help keep the thrush down. Might not work on their own but certainly can't do any harm.

Good luck, recurrent thrush is horrible. Flowers
