Morning Smile
So I've just found out I'm pregnant, we were trying but I was convinced we couldn't have anymore so it's kind of a happy surprise...
but I've just started a new job so I'm still in my probation period which would end just before my 12 week scan which is when I'd start telling people I was pregnant. But I don't want to come across as secretive so should I give them a heads up before? I have no idea. Any advice appreciated xxx

No don’t. Pass your probationary and tell them around the 14-16 week mark or after the anomoly scan. You need to look after yourself not your colleagues - so what if you come across as secretive? You don’t have to legally tell them until 25 weeks

No, don’t say anything, do it all by the book. I won’t lie - I’ve been in similar situation and with the best will in the world your employer faces a recruitment challenge, so be prepared for some forced ‘congratulations’ and a few strange looks off colleagues. Good luck though x

I found out I was pregnant this time a week into a promotion .. thankfully, my employer don’t do probationary periods for promotions!

I think you will probably need to see how you get on in the first trimester. I’m onto my second HG pregnancy so I had no choice but to tell my new manager at 8 weeks as I couldn’t carry on. I’ve been signed off for several weeks. I feel so guilty & upset about it all, I’ve worked really hard for this promotion and they gave it to me with my part time hours which was a big ask. And I did the job for a month then been off Sad

If you can potter through to 12 weeks then go for it, maybe try ascertain if you think they’d be supportive or if there’s a line manager you can trust etc.. as a manager myself at my current company, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid, life happens. But I work for a very family friendly company..

Keep it to yourself until promotion is over OP. You can even pretend you found out late if it would make things less awkward.

There’s nothing ‘secretive’ about not disclosing a pregnancy until 12 weeks (or later). That’s normal and sensible.
