PPH after c section fears?!!

Currently pregnant with 3rd child! 23 weeks
1st baby (16years old)
Obstetric Cholestasis
Induced 37wk
Failed
Emergency c section
General anaesthetic
Wound infection after

2nd baby (11 years old)
Obstetric Cholestasis (severe)
Induced 35 wk
Failed
Emergency c section
Spinal block
PPH hour after on ward

Currently 23 weeks have a planned c section at 36/37 weeks depending on OC could be before!
Will have a spinal due to epidural failing first time , with my second op went fine , recovery fine took to ward where they put baby to breast I felt a gush between legs she checked, crash buzzer was pressed and next minute baby snatched and I was surrounded been wheeled back to theatre I lost more blood than I did in theatre , however then managed to control with IVs and massage of uterus! I actually surprisingly was home the next day! And had no further problems and recovered well, however I have this fear of haemorrhaging again! I'm terrified to go into theatre and then afterwards a feel like what if I start bleeding again! What if I'm at home when it happens, I have this overwhelming fear that I will bleed to death and the fear of waking in night to find myself covered in blood! Due to the OC I'm at a higher risk of bleeding!
Midwife is aware and says I will prob need some support (mentally) nearer the time but I'm already struggling , I've been told there's things they can put in place now they know I'm at risk etc but I just can't help having this overwhelming fear!
Wondered if anyone else had had a PPH then had a c section after with no issues etc??
Thanks in advance xxx

Are you consultant led? I would ask their opinion on the risks. A friend had a huge PPH with first section and was in ITU. Not issues at all with second planned section.

Mummysgonetobed · 21/08/2019 07:27

I've had 3 sections now, first two had massive pph's whilst in theatre. Second caused me to have a blood transfusion.
3rd planned section earlier this year, I was terrified of the same thing happening again. But it didn't, minimal blood loss, perfectly textbook section. It can be ok, hopefully you will be the same.

Personally didn't have a section, I had a natural delivery, I will never forget the look on midwifes face after placenta was delivered, all the doctors rushing in and it felt like an eternity before they got it under control, then I remember the midwife scooping the blood of the bed 😰

I honestly thought it hadn't effected me until I got pregnant with DS! I am terrified to give birth again!

The only thing I can really say for reassurance is the fact you have now been through it twice they will be 100% on top of it and monitoring you continuously till they feel your in the safe zone! Talk to your consultant about your anxiety and ask what will be in place to help stop it happening 💐

I had PPH with my first and I'm currently 39 weeks with my second. I'm consultant led for that reason and they put plans in place to deal with it. The consultant told me there is an increased risk of PPH if you've had it before, it goes up from 5% to 15% which is still 85% of not having one. They look at your notes from last time to understand why it happened. Mine was primary so I have to have managed third stage, cannula in and ready, typed blood ready in the fridge in case and more monitoring after. Once they go through your notes they will discuss extra precautions with you and give you the chance to ask questions etc.

Hi yes I am consultant led, this is due to the OC really thou, tbh non of the consultants have mentioned the PPH only one briefly and the midwife told me there's things will be put in place this time, I don't have another meeting with consultant till 32 weeks unless my OC goes out of control again! So will discuss delivery on this meeting however it feels like a lifetime till I get there!
Positive things thou from this post and ppls replys , I think it's more the thought and worry of it happening don't wnat it to ruin my experience or my partners as it's his first baby x

Hi OP
I had my second yesterday. They followed their plan of extra strong third stage injection and then put me on sentocinon drip for four hours to make everything contract. In the end I lost 150ml which is basically nothing. The drip made me sick that's all I hope that reassures you.

dollytutu · 03/09/2019 18:35

@Hollywhiskey thanks so much for replying! Did you haemorrhage after first c section too? If so can I ask reason?
When you say you lost 150ml was that after op was all finished? Sorry for all questions but as I said my c section went like a breeze (for an emergency) only lost 400 ml during which is well in normal limits but wasn't till I returned to ward and attempted to breast feed I felt the gush this is my major fear xx
