Have I harmed my baby’s eyes with flashlight

I am pregnant in week 27, few weeks ago I read on an article I could see the reactions of my baby if I hold flashlight against my belly. I think I hold it too close as my baby went deep down in my belly, clearly wasn’t happy with that amount of light. :( now, I am worried if I harmed my baby’s eyes :( please help, I cannot sleep

Hi OP, we've moved this over to the pregnancy section for you.

Morgan12 · 21/08/2019 06:50

No.

LiveInAHidingPlace · 21/08/2019 06:50

How much light do you think can get through several layers of skin, muscle and organs?

Also, unless you're American, it's a torch.

AmIThough · 21/08/2019 07:00

No, don't worry.

Spam88 · 21/08/2019 07:04

No. Even when they're born they can't see light very well.

Report it then, if you don't believe it's real post.
You contravened guidelines by openly doubting the post rather than just reporting.

IWouldPreferNotTo · 21/08/2019 08:51

Here's an easy way to reassure you.

Get your palm and hold the torch against it with it turned on (so you are shining the light through your palm), see how much light is coming through the back of your hand.

Less light than that is getting through to your baby if you hold the torch against yourself.

formerbabe · 21/08/2019 08:51

No you won't have damaged your babies eyes.

I remember worrying I'd made my baby deaf because I walked past a workman using a drill in the street when I was pregnant. He's 11 now and can hear fine!

By the way I have just went through all the messages and couldn’t believe how rude some mums are! I know it was a silly question but I do suffer from anxiety and only one mum has asked to be gentle but cannot see that message now she probably withdrew. 😂 way to go mums!
Also @LiveInAHidingPlace thank you for the English lesson!

I'm happy to put my hand up here - I reported you Cuppa. Your comment was rude and uncalled for, and it still is. It was obviously someone who'd had a health anxiety panic attack. It happens to some people and being horrible doesn't help.

Glad you're feeling better OP. Being shattered can do weird things to a person!

FWIW, I tried the same when I was pregnant with my first and she didn't react at all so I convinced myself she was blind (she's not).

Angelinthenightx · 21/08/2019 19:51

Thanks a lot also @yulet, @Spam88. I have been having really unfair and rude comments today but you made up my day.👍🏻
