Hi
I'm new here! Hope o do this correct :) I'm 23 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with pgp after been admitted to hospital at the weekend have been signed off work for two weeks and referred to the physio fo a support belt and excercises, I work 13 hour shifts at the hospital as a nurse on a very busy A andE dep, my pain is worse at night when trying to sleep and also when walking , although day to day my activities haven't really stopped I can carry on these as when I feel pain etc I can sit down/rest where as at work there is no possibility to rest, I rang occupational health which were no help what so ever And said basically there's nothing they can do although I've asked my manager to refer me which he has, however I can't see it improving and doctor said it's possible I won't be going back! Now I will be made to start maternity at 36 week however I have to have my babies early so don't expect to be pregnant at this point anyway so I don't mind this, but I feel like a fake because I look like having 12 weeks off full pay sick then maternity leave to start!
Any experience of similar??
Thanks
Emma xx

Of course you're not a fake! Your job sounds hard enough even without the PGP/SPD. My opinion is that if your work can't make arrangements for you to do admin work or similar then you should take the time off. Your priority should be your health and the PGP is only going to get worse if you keep pushing yourself, best to take it easy now to protect your hips and back for the future.

I have the most sedentary office job but I've found I've had to make adjustments to how I go about doing things day to day. I've been really careful for the past few weeks and am seeing the results now with my pain and mobility having improved a lot (21 weeks so still a way to go but I'm feeling more positive about it now).

You’re not a fake at all. I had spd in my first two pregnancies that was mildly painful, and nothing at all in my third. I had my fourth in april and I struggled to walk at all from about 22 weeks. I’ve never experienced such debilitating pain. I’m lucky that I’m a sahm because there’s no way I could have worked. I couldn’t climb the stairs and getting up from bed took so much effort. I think if you haven’t experience it you simply can’t knagine how difficult it is. I’m 4 months on from birth now and it’s been a slow recovery, but I’m definately getting better. Please don’t try and soldier through any pain, the damage you’ll do long term simply isn’t worth it. You need to speak to occupational health as a matter of urgency. Certain movements would render me unable to move my legs. You really can’t have that if you’re working in A & E. Good luck x

Thankyou!
I appreciate the message aback! Yes I've just been on a walk with the dog as I'm trying to still stay fit and walking as much as possible( don't know till see physio of o shouldn't be doing this) I only walk around our village when I have a stop off at my nans then also my mums on way back! So not pushing myself however I have just cooked tea after the walk and am waddling around now in pain!!
It really is a nightmare problem as sometimes I am totally fine others wow agony! Hopefully physio will help me xxx
