Hi all im 24 weeks along with a high Bmi and I wondering if I've developed gestational diabetes. I've been suffering from extreme fatigue for no reason blood test show good iron levels I've also been diagnosed with thrush although I'm taking a very strong probiotic which in past has been the only way I could control thrush. I do have a gtt test on the fifth of next month bmi thyroid and pcos have prompted it I've had one in both previous pregnancies but always negative. Anyone else have symptoms before the test should I ask for one sooner?

I would speak to your gp or midwife now. I'm type 1 diabetic - thrush and fatigue are certainly flags to suggest blood sugar isn't under control. Can of course happen for other reasons, but best to be on the safe side.

I would ask for a test sooner, despite what they say GD can come on very early. I am currently pregnant with my 2nd child and have had GD in both pregnancies. This time I was diagnosed at 6 weeks. I have no risk factors. In the meantime there is a good FB support group you could join that will help you control it (if you have it) with diet... If you don't have it, the diet and advice will still be helpful as many women seem to continue the diet after pregnancy. Best wishes to you!

I've text my midwife as her phone is off but I had been wondering today after I had weetabix for breakfast I crashed and literally fell asleep sat up watching a film with the children which I found super bizarre plus I have no symptoms on thrush on the sense I'm not sore or itchy but had passed some bloody discharge so asked for a swab which shows thrush. Can you get it in one pregnancy but not in others confused?

If you think you have GD dont eat weetabix I have learnt from experience its the bloody devil! Try maybe 2 slices of seeded toast with 2 poached eggs. Keeps you full for longer.

This could just be your standard pcos symptoms. I have high bmi, pcos, and hypothyroid too, and will feel like you do after carbs even when my GTT levels are nowhere near diabetic. Trick is to limit them to to approx 150g per day and up your protein intake but not too much fat as that could affect clotting

Hi Teddy bear thanks for reply how do you monitor the carbs are you are eating?
