So I've been seen for two growth scans in the past two weeks. The first one the doctor mentioned she was looking small and I should come back two weeks later for another scan. After this one it showed her growth had slowed even more.

Now I'm to go in for weekly scans with the high risk specialist. After each scan they will decide if she is ok to stay in for another week or if she needs to come out within a couple of days. They will also be giving me a steroid injection to help develop her lungs for when she does come.

I have no placental issues, no fluid issues and the umbilical cord is fine. She is also kicking and moving a ton

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this? Everything else seems to be ok but she just isn't getting much bigger... I am a little worried and have been googling a lot which isn't helping

Not exactly the same but I was induced at term as my little girl wasn't growing much, but they only identified this at my 40 week appointment. She was 6lb 10 at birth but absolutely fine, all the monitoring during induction said she was perfectly happy too. She was 8lb 9 at 5 weeks as well!

So although not the same I thought I'd reply just to say that being induced for growth reasons was a bit crap but if they haven't found a reason your DC may well be same situation as mine, perfectly happy and healthy just naturally not very big.

Fingers crossed they let you keep DD as long as possible. With hindsight we should have delayed inducing our DD as she was perfectly ok where she was but we were panicked by the risks we were presented with, although same as you there wasn't an obvious reason why she had stopped growing.

Hopefully someone else will come along with a closer experience than me!

I should add I was already having a scheduled C-section at 37 weeks. I have a unicornuate uterus which puts me at high risk for pre-term labour

If it helps, I know of 2 children born at 33 weeks by c section because.they stopped growing. One had a twin obstructing the cord (the twin was delivered too but he had been growing fine!) And one was a singleton with cord issues.

Both of them (well all 3 I suppose) were teeny at birth, arouns the 3lb mark, and spent a little bit of time in NICU but they all did very well. The twins are 7 And the singleton 5 and all are bright healthy kids.

My DS2was measuring very small, he eventually stayed in but was born full term just short of 6lbs - for my next pregnancy I was automatically put into a high risk care pathway and when they asked why, they said that in the UK they likely would have induced early (he was born overseas)

He was tiny but hungry and grew well, and he's now a healthy and very bright school age child - just happens to be on the very short side, they never worked out why. My previous and subsequent pregnancies had no growth issues at all. Your baby will hopefully have a positive outcome too, and if anything is underlying it's great you're getting extra care to help.

my DD1 stopped growing (born abroard during the 1980's so there was a language barrier) delivered at 38 weeks just under 4lbs but is now a 30+ yr old , always healthy and sporty, late growth spurt at 18+, now in a professional career.

I’m 33+1 with DCDA twins and have an issue with one of them not growing well - estimated weight difference at last scan was twin 1 approx 4lb and twin 2 approx 2lb 10oz. I’ve been having scans fortnightly since 20 weeks which has shows disparity in growth but, between 30 and 32 weeks T2 only gained 1oz which is the worst yet.

I am now on weekly Doppler studies and liquor volume measurement scans and fortnightly growth scans. As I understand it now I’m am only being allowed to continue because the Doppler studies are still ok - if it was down to growth they’d be getting me in for steroids and c section. I have a funny feeling next week might be crunch point and we might get to meet our babies!!

Induced at 37 weeks with IUGR after being scanned every fortnight since 25 weeks. She was 5lb 3oz and perfect in every way.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 16/08/2019 19:20

Has your baby grown at all in that time (between scans) or are they just growing slowly? Is it possible they will have a growth spurt?

Dd was 5lb 12oz and 8 days early. Nothing was said about the next pregnancy being high risk and I was scheduled for another home delivery. Dd2 was 6lb 10oz and 8 days early too. Ds was 6 exactly and 2 weeks early. Another home delivery. Dd1 was on the 0.4th percentile and stayed on that line for years. She's now 12 and eats me out of house and home and is between the 25th and 50th and naturally very slim.

She did show growth between the first scan and the second two weeks later, but she is getting further away from 'average' (shown on the growth chart they gave me). So she is growing its just slowed significantly

DD1 was induced at 39+6 as she was low on the centiles (although she was born average weight, scans aren't perfect).

DD2 stopped growing completely at 33 weeks. Her estimated weight at 35 weeks was exactly the same as 33 weeks. She was induced at 35+4.

Both were fine (well, DD1 has unrelated SN and DD2 has unrelated ASD). DD2 had to have triple phototherapy due to jaundice but recovered well.
