I think I should be looking into this now as it's only a month away before dd.

Any advice.....

Thanks for raising this Turtle - I have 5 weeks to go and been wondering the same thing - I know that Mothercare do them. Is there any difference really except how you get them and where they can be returned to?
I know that you can order them on-line or at our local Boots they will order them for you and then DH can return it to them! (I am not sure that he would be able to find the post office )

hi all,

the best deals are online...I can't remeber the company I used but they extended my hire time for free when I was overdue ( we got it early as I kept having false starts at 7 months!!). In the end I used it for a coupld of hours and it gave me a funny twitch in the face- which came back regualrly for weeks post labour!! It was ok as a distraction....I had a V V V long labour tho and baby was back to back..so tens really wouldn't have seen me through...I do know a few women who have had tens only though...so it's worth having it on hand!!

Thanks everyone, I have a big Boots up on the high street and will check with that one. I gather they are all pretty similar but it's the convenience of giving it back when you are finished is what I am also looking for.

I used Babycare TENS hire with ds2 and have hired from them again this time as I found their service great. It came to £23 - they post it to you for free, you can extend it for free for 7 days if you need to and then you cover the postage back but they include a jiffy bag for the purpose. This is the link - tens hire

I've used Boots, partly for convenience of taking it back. You should check the terms of hire, as last time I remember looking into this and, although Boots weren't the cheapest, they won't charge you any extra if you return the machine late.

Most companies give you the machine 3 weeks before your due date, but sometimes the period of hire is only 4 weeks, so if you're overdue you get charged extra.

In fact I've just hired from Boots for a second time and I think it is probably more expensive than last time and only a 1 month hire, but they said they definitely wouldn't charge if it was returned late. (I didn't explore any other options this time around)

Used Boots - they had run out of hire ones so gave me a new one to hire. When I tried to give it back there was only one person who knew how to take it back so a bit of a wait.
