So I’m 24 weeks pregnant and have sort of noticed a daily pattern of movement which I am loving because it’s just wonderful but today I felt really really sick and dizzy all day and my baby was SO active like I’ve never felt him move so much and he had strong movements and all I could think was he’s elbowing me and kneeing me and it was making me feel worse.
I’d obviously rather feel him move than now but is it pretty normal for them to start being awake most of the day as I get further on? I’d say he was awake from 10am all the way through to maybe 4.30pm and was still making movements at round 8.

@Heartburn888 Yes its normal, currently 30 weeks! Some days DS will hardly move then he will move ALL night keeping me awake punching me in the hip and kicking me on the ribs 🤯 xx

@HJWT

I’m not st that stage yet but I am dreading it! Sometimes during the night he will make me up doing what feels like somersaults and then using my bladder as a trampoline! Hoping tonight isn’t going to be of them nights as he’s been up all day but he’s happily nudging me now but I’m just hoping it’s hiccups haha xx

You've brought it all back to me! I had this when I was pregnant with dd1 (now 6). I felt really guilty complaining about it as I was fully aware that so many would have loved to feel their baby move for reassurance etc. But, it got to the stage where I found it really painful and it sometimes felt like she was scraping her nails down my insides 😱 it became relentless. Then I made the mistake of consulting dr Google and scared the crap out of myself (it said excess movements could be a problem). Anyway, long story short, the mw's were brilliant & I ended up having a scan to check all was well, it was. I think it turned out to be where my placenta was, it wasn't shielding me from the constant gymnastics. I remember the relief when I gave birth! Anyway, I can report that she's still incredibly active now. Obviously any changes etc let your mw know but this was my normal. I also had the same second time around but they're worth it a million times to me. Good luck!

Oh wow so glad everything was okay, I do worry sometimes and I’m a stickler for self diagnosis too! Do you think this is a reason why I felt so sick today because he was literally sucking all of my energy out of me performing dance routines all day? I have tried taking pregnacare for a little bit of a boost vitamin-wise but that’s just knocked me sick as well just hope the dreaded morning sickness isn’t coming back!

It could be! I felt all kinds of things when pregnant, sick being on the list. If you think about it, your abdominal cavity is being used for baby so everything is being a bit squashed! I found Bassetts sherbet ( in the tube) helped (bicarbonate of soda, something like that). The only relief I got from the movements was going for long (but slow towards the end) walks. It really used to freak me out, no one understood how it felt. It’s draining being pregnant anyway, you’re growing a person. I honestly slept much better when they were born. Brace yourself, I found it more intense the further I got along but please know, one day you will laugh about it, I honestly thought I never would! Keep posting if it helps, I didn’t have that at the time and thought I was the only one it happened to!

Hi @Heartburn888 I also have an extremely active baby, I'm 39 weeks now and she's not eased up at all! I ended up being monitored in hospital the other week for unrelated high blood pressure, the results came out that she moved on average 48 times an hour!!! I too am knackered and feel nauseous, this is my first so I have nothing to compare it too but surely it must factor a bit 🤷🏼‍♀️

Baby2nov2019 · 15/08/2019 21:39

Ugh, my baby is so super active too! I’m finding it physically exhausting 😭 I’m only 28 weeks but am easily as big as I was with my first at 8/9 months! She feels really close to the surface, so every movement literally makes me cry out! My poor LG is only 2 and keeps apologising thinking she’s hurt me 😂 with my first it was just a lovely feeling, this time it’s like ALIEN! Haha

Pomfluff · 15/08/2019 22:23

I also had a super active baby (kick counting was redundant because she was moving 10 times in 2 minutes instead of 2 hours). She was really unhappy and cried a lot during the newborn stage because her body was effectively paralysed and she loved to move. Things improved dramatically after 3 months and she hit all the physical milestones really early because she can't stay still.

Heartburn888 · 15/08/2019 22:37

On the flip side now I’ve hardly felt him move today apart from a couple of twinges - must be shattered the poor boy!
