Can’t take anymore of heartburn and constipation reducing me to tears. I don’t even have to eat or drink anything now. I can just lay on the sofa for a relax and boom there it is! I suffered bad with the girls and this time is no different.
Constipation is just yuck but I’m scared I’m getting the onset of piles looking on the Nhs site about them and I definitely don’t want them!
Oh and a recent course of antibiotics has now left me with thrush! So will bring that up as well!

Hopefully I leave with things to help me before I go up the wall!

Just want to express some sympathy to you starlight pregnancy absolutely sucks at times.

Make sure you're drinking enough water to help with the constipation. I pretty much had to walk round with a water bottle attached to me and see your gp about everything else. If you're obviously pregnant pharmacists will not be able to sell you anything and will advise you to see your gp anyway. Plus you are entitled to free prescriptions when pregnant.

I hope you get sorted. Omeprazole was an instant relief for me!

Mintypea5 · 13/08/2019 07:22

Definitely see the dr. I have had thrush a lot this pregnancy and pharmacy won't sell you treatment over counter if you're pregnant. You need certain prescribed treatments (I know because it wasn't available in my area at all so I had to suffer until the dr would re prescribe a different one "safe" in pregnancy!!)

Thanks ladies! I’m off to feed my friends cats and then I’ll head to the GP for 8.30. They have a sit and wait clinic until mid day! You just sit until you are seen so hopefully get there early! Be seen quicker. Else I’d be looking at 4 weeks for see my dr! I can’t wait that long! Xx

@Starlight84 Believe me I can totally relate on all of the above :( it sucks doesn't it!! Constant thrush here, it's just miserable. The worst part is having all of these things at once ffs, not to mention pregnancy anxiety as well!! Hope you get some relief soon x

Nothing from the pharmacist worked for me AND they sent me away and wouldn't even give me advice on ranitidine or other drugs while pregnant!!!!! They told me to so and see my GP.

I went to the GP and after a prescription for ranitidine that did fuck all, I was put on Omeprazole.

Life saver.

I needed it until about 20 weeks and I don't seem to need it anymore. She warned me that I'd probably need it again in the third trimester.

For constipation, I seem to be ok at the minute if I drink lots of fresh orange juice every day.

Dec2019mumtobe · 13/08/2019 07:56

To be clear, I meant nothing OTC worked for me, like gaviscon. When I went to a pharmacy to ask advice about what I can take while pregnant, they refused to sell anything to me and told me to see the GP.

Anybody who has an attitude like AliceWond's has clearly never been miserable with heartburn and constipation to this degree. I would have a few sips of water and throw up acid after. My digestive system just seemed to stop. If I ate something small like a yogurt or piece of fruit, I'd feel bloated to the extreme! I lost weight in the first trimester because I could barely eat or keep anything down.

OP, I also found upping my exercise helped a little too. I'd go for extra dogs walks after dinner.

Starlight84 · 13/08/2019 08:04

Yes I could do with upping my exercise a bit more really! I drink plenty of water. It’s just yuck! I would love to get it under control xx

Omeprazole is a godsend OP if the GP gives you that. I take it with painkillers that are a bit like strong ibuprofen and it means I never get any kick back from them!

Bol87 · 13/08/2019 09:54

Laxido is your friend for constipation - I needed it everyday last pregnancy although mostly as I was on anti-sickness. You need a prescription.

Meds do add up & you get free prescriptions when pregnant so def see your doctor. I took ranitidine for heartburn and the doc prescribed 150mg dose tablets (double over the counter) & enough to last me 3 months in one hit. You can also get gaviscon on prescription, some doctors will give it to you. Mine won’t but my friends did!

Starlight84 · 13/08/2019 10:14

The dr was very helpful. I have a prescription for all three ailments! Unsure what they are yet as here they are sent electronically to the chosen pharmacy! No paper involved! I’ll let you know when I go collect them.

Also gave him a chuckle by telling him someone suggested I didn’t need to see a doctor as it’s nobodys fault and I needed to speak to my husband 😂😂😂 I said not that I have a husband but I’m not completely sure what he would have done if I did! He said that’s hilarious! He said no if in doubt please see a GP and not a husband 🤣🤣🤣🤣
