Early bird appointment

Can you refuse to attend an early bird appointment? I had one with my first child now 3 year old and I had one November last year before having a miscarriage. I have just found out I am expecting again and I’m not keen on attending. I know what not to eat/drink about the affects of caffeine, alcohol, smoking etc. I know my BMI and to take folic acid and that was pretty much all that happened last time. I just feel like it’s a waste of time?

I’ve never heard of it but I’m sure you can refuse any appointments you don’t want.

There's no legal reason to attend any appointments, but at some point you need a booking in appointment then they will book your first scan

What is an ‘early bird’ appointment? Is it your ‘booking in’ appointment (that triggers scan dates etc) or something else?
In any case, you can refuse any appointments as PP said.
Congratulations on pregnancy :)

Thank you all.
@Tini17 it is an appointment usually in a children’s centre where around 6/7 ladies who have just discovered they are expecting attend and get weighed and told what not to do. Also carbon dioxide tests.

Not something we have in my area - where are you based? We just have midwife booking appointments at 8 weeks..

Pretty sure you don’t have to go to anything technically.. so I recon you are fine!

@Bol87 I’m in Middlesbrough, I’m hoping I can get away with it as usually when phoning to make your first midwife appointment they tell you you have to have one first, I may just lie and say Iv had one
