Any advice please

We are starting to look at buying some products cots, prams, car seats etc is there anywhere that is giving reviews on safe products and recommendations for items and products specifically? I’ve used lullaby but can’t see specific items as such

So many things to worry about and with everything being so pricey I wanna make sure we buy the best safest product

Many thanks in advance

We spent a while looking online and bounty produced a buying guide we read then went and shopped around to work out what’s best for us. Baby isn’t here yet but hopefully we have made the right choices. There are so many options!

Also don’t forget to consider things like weight of the pram and whether car seat fits your car!

I just tend to go to John Lewis, see what they stock, and base my searches on those brands.

There's also Which? I just paid the 99p for the free trial. They rate things like safety of car seats.

Which is pretty good for what you want. A month trial is 99p.

Cots sold in the uk are fine as long as you've got a new, firm mattress and NOTHING else in there. They have to meet regulations on bar width etc. Obviously second hand ones may not meet up to date guidance.

The Car Seat Advice UK Facebook group is definitely worth a look at once you've narrowed down your options. As is visiting an In Car Safety Centre (they'll advise and fit seats and show you how to use them).

Prams etc generally come down to manufacturers guidelines. You need to decide what you want. A John Lewis nursery appointment is good for taking a look at a range of options (actually for all these items), there's no obligation to buy.

I went to a Mothercare 'new parents' event. The aim was obviously to sell as much stuff as possible to expectant parents, but there was a really useful talk about car seats and travel systems and the latest safety standards, and was handy to then be able to look at a whole range of stuff there and then with that in mind. We didn't buy anything on the spot that day but did get a good idea of what we think we'll go for, and will just see in the next couple of months if it ever goes on sale or where the best place to buy from is in terms of warranties and customer service etc.
