Ectopic or IBS

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and am having some pain in my lower left abdomen, which is tender, I've had it for at least a week maybe 2 could this be a possible ectopic or is it more likely to be my IBS as I have been horrendously constipated since I found out I was pregnant. I had a miscarriage in May so I dont know if I should be concerned or I'm just being extra paranoid.

I'd give the EPU a call, there's not much anyone can say on that information. I was terribly constipated when I had an ectopic, but the pain was very sudden and very intense. But everyone's symptoms are so different, any concerns should be checked out.

I'd be asking for a scan to be sure either way. I hope the news is better for you.

I had pains on my right side which ended up having me doubled over in pain crying at the hospital. I also had shooting pains up my butt (sorry tmi but all relevant to ectopic pregnancy symptoms)

Hospital were ready to operate there and then but I refused without a scan first, which they luckily did as someone was free. I was 6 weeks.

Turns out baby was fine and my pains were related to the side my ovary had ovulated. The midwife said I was very in tune with my body to pick that up (or my pain threshold sucked)

I was so convinced it was game over.

With ectopic pregnancies you know when it's wrong because of the sheer amount of pain, but I was so worried.

You can call EPU but from my experience, unless you tick all the boxes of symptoms or have severe bleeding then they aren't overly interested in checking sadly.

It doesn’t matter if you are being paranoid, get a scan. It may well not be an ectopic but best to be sure.
I’ve had 2 ectopics and neither were painful at all (both diagnosed before 7 weeks), as well as various aches and pains in normal pregnancies (constipation, corpus luteum cyst, UTI, other random niggles). You simply can’t rule our ectopic without a scan.

Thank you all for your replys, You can't self refer to the Birmingham EPAU so to find out one way or another we have just booked a private scan for 14.30 today so fingers crossed it's just my IBS
