Mat leave - too soon?

I'm a FTM and planning to finish up at 35 weeks, I've then got a week of annual leave before my mat leave officially starts at 36 weeks.
I remember initially choosing the date and feeling like it might be too early but, as it approaches, I'm actually looking forward to it. I have a desk based job so not overly taxing but it's still a bit of a struggle with aches, pains and generally feeling exhausted all the time.
A few people have commented that its early to be finishing up and it's got in my head, niggling away at me even though I know I shouldn't let it.
Interested to know what others have done?

I went at 36+5 last time and started getting possible signs of labour dead on 37 weeks. Dd was born at 37+4 so I didn't have any time to rest and relax at all. It was nice to be able to have a lot of time off with her, but I could've done with some more naps and time to relax before the onslaught began.
This time I'm going at 37 weeks and hoping baby stays put a little longer than last time. I'll get time with dd as well as rest. That's the plan anyway.
I don't think you ever know what the right choice is. You could go early and baby could appear within days or could decide to stay put for ages. Its only in hindsight that you can ever really know if it was the right choice.
Just have to make a decision and roll with it.

I’m leaving at 39+2 and praying baby isn’t two weeks late!

I planned to finish at 39 weeks, put in some holiday and start mat leave on my due date on the assumption that first time babies are usually late and I wanted to continue working as long as possible because I felt fine. As it happened the contractions started at 36+6 and baby came in the early hours of 37+0 so I essentially just went home for the weekend, had a baby and never went back. Regardless of when you plan your mat leave you might end up leaving early but personally that was better for me than finishing early and hanging around waiting for baby to come, although I guess it would have been nice to have had a day to myself!! Hanging around would have really annoyed me even though I have an excellent maternity package because I felt completely fine and actually had a discussion with my husband about when I'd feel properly pregnant on the day that I went into labour.

I had to finish unexpectedly at 34 weeks as my waters broke, my d. Was born 36 weeks to the day. Work dc2 I planned to finish around 34/25 weeks as I was convinced it would happen again, dc2 was born at 40+5 so there is just no telling. I think you're finishing anout right. Enjoy some time off before the baby arrives! Good luck and enjoy!
