Hi All

Had quite a strange day today (17 +6 weeks). Missed breakfast due to being late for a hair appointment and grabbed something quick for lunch. Within 30 mins my bloody sugar had dropped and I felt really faint, cue a sugary sweet to boost my sugars quickly and a proper sit down, rest and food.

I’ve spent the evening with friends as I felt much better but noticed some very, very light blood on the tissue paper when I went to the loo. I’ve also got stomach pain (though this feels very much like IBS).

Not sure if I should be worried or if I’m overreacting. DH is snoozing away beside me but I can’t sleep as in worried.

Any help for this FTM would be greatly appreciated!

Hi OP I don't want to read and run, however if your at all worried I would contact your maternity unit and ask for advice. They may call you in to check babies heart beat if they are concerned/possible scan etc.

Thanks @Squeakybubbles26. I’ve been thinking that. It’s hard as the amount of bleeding is so so tiny (it was a squinter on the loo roll) but as I’m sure most of us do, there’s an inspection upon every loo visit.

Trying to keep calm but think I’ll be giving a ring. Hoping I need to nip to the loo again so I can make a decision. I don’t want to worry DH as he has an important interview on Monday for his dream job. He’d kill me for not telling him but I genuinely want him to be happy and smash this interview. Thank God for MN and all of the lovely posters!

@BFPhopeful2019 did you call the maternity unit after? I agree every toilet trip you can't help but worry and inspect. At least a tiny tiny bit of blood should be nothing to worry about! Have you felt any baby movements yet or I guess it's possibly still early days? Bless you looking out for your husband, and hope the interview goes well for him!x

I did. They were lovely and didn’t seem to judge me (or my neurosis). They said to monitor it and call back if it got worse. Thankfully this morning everything has calmed down and bad some stomach pains (which could easily be IBS as I’ve suffered terribly throughout).

I’ve felt some flutters but obviously really difficult to monitor as only flutters; I’m quite excited for proper movements as I think that’ll help calm me down too.

Thanks for the best wishes for DH. He’s a panicker so need to try keep calm so he can get through this. Provided nothing else happens, I’ll keep this one to myself.

Thanks for being so lovely @Squeakybubbles26! MN helps with this type of thing so much!

I felt light headed a lot during my pregnancies. That seems to be normal, when I checked with the midwife. Glad you went to the maternity unit with the bleeding however light.

Squeakybubbles26 · 11/08/2019 19:06

@BFPhopeful2019 that's one thing I have always noticed midwives are so lovely, they don't judge and they've only got yours and babies best interests at heart! It's the same in hospital too, even though they are busy they will support you throughout before and after birth!

Aw I miss the flutters :( (DD2 is a month old) do you know where your placenta is lying or do you find that out at your next scan?

Did you end up telling your partner in the end?

Anytime, there's nothing worse than worrying (especially as night on your own)! x

I think it is quite a common side effect (light headedness); just strange when it happens!

The MW have been fantastic thus far and I’m so pleased with the care I’ve had.

I did tell him in the end as I knew there was nothing to worry about.

I’m loving the flutters. No idea about my placenta yet but have a scan in a couple of weeks so should find out then. Congratulations on your little one! Xx
