I’ve been having Hollywood/Brazilians for 10 years or so. They’ve never got any less painful for
me in all those years but much preferred to shaving.
I’m 22 weeks now and haven’t had a wax since around......... 6/7 weeks! It’s really overdue and wondered would you ladies have one? Something is putting me off and I don’t know what... I know it will be super painful but there’s just a niggle in my mind and I can’t book one. X

Why bother? Medical professionals actually advise against it. Can you trim?

I waxed all through pregnancy and had a Hollywood up to 32 weeks, at 37 weeks I just had a high bikini and tidied the rest myself as was being induced the next day (only found out 2 days before).
I'm glad I did as I felt that the way I was stitched was probably improved because it was nice and tidy. Also after birth there's obviously lots of mess and blood and I found it easier to clean with less hair.
Yes waxing hurts more when you're pregnant but you're gonna be in more pain when you give birth lol and if you have managed Hollywood's before I'd go for it.

I’ve been so cautious about having treatments.
I usually have my hair bleached but have decided against that for the pregnancy. I just feel I need a tidy up down there lol and I’ve never ever shaved so not keen on doing that as I know the result isn’t very good. Thanks for your responses X

Iv never read anything about waxing harming the baby but it's personal choice b

I don't see any point in having an entirely optional cosmetic treatment done when you find it painful (and yes, ones undercarriage generally becomes more sensitive during pregnancy)

Medically, there is no advantage, and if done close to labour there can be disadvantage - micromabrasiins are a route for infection, and the whole area can be sore

It really is ok to just leave it. Or use cream just on thighs if it extends down your legs and you intend to keep swimming.

I waxed all the way through both pregnancies. It's worst in the first trimester I think. I'm currently 37 weeks with no2 and can't even see down there so there's no way I would be trying to tidy it myself. I hate shaving because of the prickly stubble as the hair grows back so I'd never shave down there.
I'll be getting it all off at 39 weeks this time. If the hair is bothering you now it's even more annoying after birth when your uterus is contracting down so you can see it all again, you want to lie in the bath but not allowed bubble bath until the stitches heal and all you can see is gross hairiness - well clearly it doesn't bother everyone but it just added to how horrible I felt about my body after giving birth last time. Some women feel like goddesses and that's great, I wish I did but sadly I don't. You know how your relationship with your body is generally.
If you are getting all or part of your bikini area waxed just make sure you go to someone who is experienced in working with pregnant women as they need to use different positions (not lying on you back or front) for your comfort and to be safe.

Yes, I've only had two this pregnancy... one before I even got my BFP and one around 20 weeks. Agree with pp about helping myself to feel less gross, but obviously that depends on the person. It did hurt more than I remembered- partly because it was months between waxes. I'll go again around 28-30 and probably 36-38 ahead of labour. Anything to make me feel marginally more womanly and less whale-like! 😂

PollyRoe16 · 10/08/2019 08:06

Had waxes all throughout pregnancy and only noticed a little difference in the pain level. Have you ever tried somewhere that uses wax that solidifies before it's pulled off rather than hot wax and strips? I find it's a lot less painful on the most sensitive areas.

Mog6840 · 10/08/2019 08:19

I'm a therapist who does a lot of intimate waxing and I'm also 39 weeks pregnant!

I usually have a Hollywood but I don't know why, I just haven't been able to face it. I've been very sick with this pregnancy and so many aches and pains I think I'm just feeling extra sensitive and don't want to endure any more lol.
So Iv been having very high sides and across he top and tidying the rest which has been absolutely fine and looks neat and tidy.

I'm having a c section and from what all my clients say to me waxing is better as it prevents the itching of stubbly hair growing out of your scar area!

Spanneroo · 10/08/2019 08:33

I've always just trimmed through pregnancy.

It's twins this time so there's no way in hell I'm gonna give two hoots come giving birth anyway. I'm planning on feeling like a new woman when I can breathe and move again after they're out - regardless of how well kept my garden is! 😁

Hannah9176 · 10/08/2019 10:06

Im 32 weeks had a Hollywood 2 days ago and it definitely hurt more than normal, in fact I think the wax may have been too hot cause it was sore/burning for the full day AND the whole day after. However, I feel better when it's done and I can't actually see down there any more, so if it's what you're used to then go for it. I'll be getting another at 36 and 39 weeks too.

Angelinthenightx · 10/08/2019 16:43

I wouldnt get it done esp if u have that niggle in your head.i wouldnt have any treatments done when pregnant just because i know i would worry but many do & are fine so i dont see any harm getting it done its just more a personal choice thing.x
