Hi ladies,

I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and recently came across this article that women who experience severe morning sickness even in their second trimester are likely to develop pregnancy complications.

Now I don't personally believe this to be true because I'm sure there are mums out there who have had prolonged nausea and went on to have no complications but how many of you have actually experienced prolonged nausea and then developed a complication in previous pregnancies.

I am currently pregnant with number 4 and from what I experienced, my first pregnancy was horrific. I had nausea throughout my pregnancy and yes I ended up with a complication (pre-eclampsia). However, with my second and third pregnancies my nausea went away in month three and went on to have no complications what so ever. So according to my experience that study may have a point... but who knows.

What was your experience ladies? Do you agree or disagree based on your personal experiences?

Below is the link to the study if u want to have a look.

I can say I definitely don’t relate to the article! With my first DS I experienced awful nausea and even developed hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness) but he was born a very healthy baby with a relatively stress free labour compared with the nightmare of a pregnancy

My third and forth pregnancy’s (both boys again!) also ran relatively smooth and both labours were not dreadful but not entirely pleasant neither. Currently 23 weeks pregnant with DC5 which we just found out was a girl so hopefully this labour will run without complications as little one shaping up to be quite healthy so far

Hope all is well

Whereas in my second pregnancy, everything ran smoothly until about the 32th week when my waters immediately broke at work. DS2 was born just under two months of his due date. He struggled to feed and had to have a tube inserted which quite scary compared with how well everything ran with our eldest son

Hi Smile I am a mum of 4 and pregnant with number 5, with my first four i had awful morning (noon and night too lol) sickness throughout, but thankfully no complications.
Now with baby number 5 and I've had basically none! And still, thankfully, no complications.
So, no i dont agree.. But I know everyone is different.

@Asi2 that's really good your pregnancies were complication. So sorry to hear about the last one. Gosh I wonder what that was like to have waters break at work. One of my fears tbh, especially working with small children. Hope your current pregnancy continues that way without any complications.

@cocobabee that's amazing. No morning sickness, I wish I had that. I'm 16 weeks and still gagging. Waiting eagerly for the day it starts to fade away. Smile

I was sick until about 4-5 months (it’s a bit of a blur ) no complications. Healthy baby j was healthy and birth was routine no issues bar it was quick and intense 13 hours from first contractions he was born ❤️

Honestly it was a nightmare ha. It’s so strange how different pregnancies can be, comparing my first to last is crazy. Hope yours goes well too

Cocobabee · 08/08/2019 22:39

I know, I have been amazed myself.. Was completely expecting the same sickness as always. (then was worried when didnt get it, but all is looking good)

I hope you feel better soon though x

I see we all have big families, congrats Grin
good luck with the rest of your pregnancies ladies x

I had very severe nausea ( vomiting from morning to bedtime 5-10 times daily for the entire pregnancy ) with dd1 but no complications whatsoever. Second pregnancy milder nausea that disappeared in second trimester, no complications either.

Kitten22 · 08/08/2019 22:48

@Newmumma83. Thats so lovely. Thank god your nausea didnt last the whole pregnancy eh.
My second and third pregnancies were a bliss. The nausea just disappeared at 3 months, whereas this one is still going on in month four. It's strange coz this time around the nausea might stop for a couple of days and then bam its bk. Thought it was actually leaving me for good but I guess its just playing about with me at the moment.

I had severe morning sickness in my first pregnancy (I was sick the whole 9 months and lost 16lb in the first trimester), but didn't have any of the complications described in the article.

Asi2 · 08/08/2019 23:40

You too ha, hopefully it’s gotten easier the more pregnancies we’ve had. Seem in a much different place now compared with my first pregnancy nine years ago x
