I'm 28+1 and I've gained 22lbs so far but I've pretty much steadily been putting on 1lb every week since 12 weeks and the last 3 weeks it's been 2lbs. I've not increased food much, I've increased my walking (not by loads but a bit as I'm off for the summer holidays) so I'm not sure why I'm piling weight on now. Should I be worried? Please tell me it'll slow down again! I can tell I've gained more these past few weeks too as I feel big and my bump is out and proud haha

@amehh I'm 28+3 and have put on 21lbs. Like you I've not really increased my food I think baby is just ramping up the growth. I read somewhere the average was between 14-28lbs at 26 weeks.

I've found this accurate the whole way through, it's based on your starting weight and height - www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

The midwife told me yesterday that they like women to put on 1 stone through their pregnancy!!! I said well my last baby was 10lb. She told me to stick to the slimming world diet. 😭😂

I think with weight gain you have to just keep in mind it's not just the weight of the baby increasing, your breasts are getting heavier, the amount of fluid around the baby and the placenta have a weight too, and your body is building up towards breastfeeding which burns a lot of calories, so laying down some fat stores to see you through labour and into to breastfeeding (if that's your choice) is a good thing. I'm 30 weeks now and have put on about 12lb, but in my last pregnancy I put on about 2 stone overall, then lost a good bit of that after the birth and everything calmed down again.

You'll be getting measured regularly from about now to track baby's growth. As long as your diet is good, you're getting gentle exercise where you feel able to, and you're drinking plenty of water, I wouldn't worry. Especially if your midwife isn't worried.

I find it depends on your starting weight...all my freinds who are very slim...7stone 5ft 2 ect...gain like 4 stone...me myself am 10st & 5ft 2...So im quite chubby anyway...I only gained 21lb in my last pregnancy...Went up to 11st 7lbs & lost it all within 4 weeks...back to 10st...I started this pregnancy at 10st 3lbs...Had sickness in the first 12 weeks and lost 10lbs...Went down to 9st 7lbs...I'm 28 weeks today and I'm 10st 12lbs...So all in all I've gained 9lbs from my starting weight...If your very slim I think your body needs more weight & does what it needs too...If your heavier you dont gain as much...But could just be me...

Agree with @Cantthinkofanameeee I think a lot has to do with your starting weight too.

I’m overweight and have put on 4 pounds total at 23+5

My very petite friend had put on about a stone and a half by this point.

Depends on your start weight. My size zero, 6 stone sister, put on 7kg during pregnancy and was monitored as the midwife wanted her to gain more (her start BMI was 17!).

I am a size 12/14, had a start BMI of 28 and have so far only gained 2kg (I am 23 weeks) due to monitoring my calories like a hawk and ensuring I eat no more than 1800-2000 per day with exercise. The MW still thinks that’s too much and would ideally like to see me lose weight.
