Pains in early pregnancy

Hi all,
My wife is pregenant and is at 4 and a half weeks but she has severe pains in the top of her thighs, her stomach and lower back and it all happens at the same time, it will last a few minutes sometimes up to half an hour and then go again, we have spoken to a doctor who has said that without any bleeding this is normal but all of our friends and family have never had these problems in early pregnancy or at least not all at the same time, we are a little bit worried as the last time she was pregnant she had the same pains and then miscarried at 10 weeks any past experience will be amazing

Thanks
Dan

Sorry for your loss Flowers op
I had pains between 3-5 weeks that were far worse than the “mild” “moderate” pains I read about being “normal” I haven’t had any since, I am 9 weeks now and spoke to the midwife who confirmed that it’s just muscle/ligament pain because everything is moving about. Providing it relieves when she moves and is coupled with bleeding it’s normal. I hope this helps a bit!

Hi thank you for your reply,
It gets better once she starts to move about, fingers crossed it will stop soon. there isn't much info about for aches and pains so we were really worried but that has deffo helped.
Thank you

FWIW I’ve had these pains too. I would say they are ‘moderate’ though, not ‘severe’!

I’m 6 weeks, midwife tells me it’s fine as no blood but now I’m a little worried I may end up losing it too 😫

My friend had these pains too and all was fine - they did get her an early scan to check. Someone told her that because she is usually very active she was likely to feel it more (running etc) because of her having more muscle? No idea how valid that is but if you are quite active that could be why it's so bad?

Hi thank you all,

My wife is very active especially in work and she is on her feet a lot, we have booked an early scan at 9 weeks as when we had a missed miscarriage the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks.
Does anyone have any home remedies that she can try, I have been giving her paracetamol on advice from the doctors and Luke warm baths but it doesn't really help.

Hi, I have experienced exactly the same pains without bleeding too. I have been seen by the early pregnancy unit as they were worried it could be an ectopic pregnancy but scan shows baby is absolutely fine and is most likely a cyst. I find only warm baths and hot water bottles eases it but they did tell me to take paracetamol every 4-6 hours regularly to help against the pain.
