Thrush treatment in pregnancy

Any advice greatly appreciated! I’ve had two swabs which have come back with ‘heavy thrush,’ but haven’t had any external symptoms (no itching or pain) and my discharge is yellow instead of white and lumpy. Been prescribed Miconazole by my doctor, but wondering whether I should try some Canisten suppositories first?

I've had thrush since the beginning of the 2nd trimester :( I've been prescribed an anti-fungal cream you mentioned (mine was called Daktarin (Miconazole) 2% Cream), and twice the Canisten Thrush Internal Cream (it comes in a pre-filled applicator). All of these treatments have helped the symptoms for a week or so, then it returns. I've pretty much been told by the Dr to deal with it now, they cant prescribe anything stronger.

The Miconazole, I double checked with my midwife it was safe to use, she told me it was and there were no adverse symptoms.

I'd say the Canesten cream worked better because it's applied internally.

Good luck - I hope yours clears up because mine has been constant and the worst part of pregnancy for me.

Thanks @PuffsMummie, sorry to hear you’ve been having such a rough time of it!

I'm not too badmuch this pregnancy, but previous pregnancies, start to finish, were awful. Its hormonal in this case, so hard to tackle. I did finda some (generous) drops of tea tree oil in a carrier oils applied liberally at night helped a bit. Bit messy for daytime though. I relied heavily on canesten cream at times, daily in the knowledge that if I stopped it would be back within 48 hours. Health type shops may have natural remedies.

Ive been prescribed pesseries and cream today at my local antenatal department after a weekend of spotting, which the Gyne said was caused by thrush. He said one or the other probably won't address the problem as it needs treating internally and externally.
