Very high AC at 28 weeks- should I be offered GTT?

I have had a 28 week growth scan today (due to my thyroid issues, no previous concerns about baby’s growth) and feel concerned about baby’s abdominal circumference.

The AC measurement was on 95th centile, and I believe my dating scan is wrong (I think I am not as far along as they think by about 5 days) so if my correct dates were used, this measurement would be off the scale.

Head circumference and femur length are average/on small side so the overall estimated weight isn’t overly large. At 20 weeks AC was measuring at 84th centile so it’s not too much of a sudden huge leap.

Neither the sonographer or obstetrician were concerned, but most things I have read online, both from NHS and anectdotally on forums etc suggest that a glucose tolerance test is indicated if AC is at 95th centile.

My BMI is normal and I don’t have any other risk factors for GD.

I am planning to ring my midwife in the morning to ask about it but, in the meantime, I would like to hear your experiences of 95th centile/off the scale abdominal circumference at 28 weeks and whether you were given a GTT?

Yes baby measured above the 95th percentile on a growth scan that I had at 28 weeks (which was actually done because I was measuring small). I was given a gtt on Friday as a result of this (no other factors, normal bmi, no family history etc) and found out today that I do have gd so will need further monitoring. The baby had previously measured bang on for dates at the 13 and 20 week scans x

Yes I would ask for GTT. My DS was above 95th percentile at 24 week scan and it ended up that I did have GD.
I was also measuring 1 week ahead on the scan vs my own dates (which I was 100% certain of)

Thank you both. I will press midwife for the test then.

I just wanted to add an update for anyone in a similar situation.

My midwife and the diabetes specialist midwife said that they weren’t concerned, given the fact baby seemed to just be following his (big bellied) curve, but offered me the test for reassurance.

I had the test yesterday and got my results this morning- all clear. So reassurance that a big belly can just mean a big belly, and that the professionals usually know best!
