Need some advice! found out i am pregnant - lmp was 6th may, had an early scan that put me a 7.5 weeks pregnant on 28th june. went for 12 week scan and they have dated me as 14 weeks today - meaning that i would have had to have had my period a week earlier?! (30th april - 5th may) which i didn't. Can due dates be wrong?!

You might have just ovulated a week earlier. I wouldn't worry about it x

Due dates are a guide. Baby will come when it's ready. Your due date is calculated based on 'average' size. So the foetus could be having a growth spurt.

You don't become pregnant until after ovulation, which happens at any point in your cycle. Your due date is 38 weeks after ovulation, regardless of when your last monthly period is.

So typically women ovulate 14 days after the start of their period. Hoebee you might have ovulated earlier than day 14. I was testing for ovulation so I know I ovulated late this month on day 22... so I know I'm not as far gone as I 'should' be based on my last period. Does that make sense? X

Don't worry OP. They just go off averages for dates to come up with your due date. It's a guess really. Your baby might just be big for your gestation.

My due date with my last was 24th Oct. I knew in my heart I was due the 15th. My older 2 children came within one day of due date, 3rd came 14th Oct. Maybe coincidence but I'm certain the docs were wrong!

You could have ovulated earlier in your cycle than you thought, or your baby is measuring big for its gestational age. The due date and how far along you are are based on how big your baby is compared with the average baby at that stage. Baby won’t grow at a standard rate, it will grow in bursts just like outside the womb. You’ll probably find that with future scans the gestational age will move about a bit!
