Because I can't work out how to do it without phoning them and I really can't be bothered sitting on hold for ages Blush
I'm 14 weeks and going away on Friday. When I go to the declare medical conditions there's no option to declare pregnancy.

To be on the very safe side you should yes, if something pregnancy related were to happen whilst you're away then it won't be covered and you'd end up paying

I just bought some through Sainsbury's and had to ring anyway for DH. I mentioned I'm pregnant and they said I was covered under the usual policy unless there were complications I was already aware of.

From most terms and conditions you don't have to declare as its not considered a medical condition, but I'd advise you to call them to double check their policy details.

I bought a yearly policy then went away when I was 16 wks pregnant halfway through the policy. It didn't occur to me to tell them. To be fair, this was 8 years ago. I do wonder now if they would now use any excuse under the sun to decline a claim. However, it is not an illness. And hopefully fluffybottom has put your mind at rest.

I would declare it.

longtimelurkerfirsttimeposter · 05/08/2019 20:10

I called mine to declare it and he told me I didn't need to as it wasn't a medical condition.

Teddybear45 · 05/08/2019 20:11

It’s not a medical condition and so shouldn’t be declared. Insurance companies are no longer allowed to discriminate against pregnant women - so it often won’t even be mentioned in the policy. Provided you aren’t travelling against medical advice and have proof via a GP letter then you will be covered for any trip provided you aren’t specifically going somewhere to give birth.

I have my insurance through my bank account.
I called them when I was going on holiday, and they said that unless I'm high risk and not due, they don't have an issue with travelling in pregnancy.
I'd just phone to check x

DappledThings · 05/08/2019 21:29

I called to check and they pretty much laughed me off the phone saying I hadn't needed to let them know

TurquoiseDress · 06/08/2019 15:09

I would definitely call them to let them know

Even if they say it makes no difference, you don't need to declare it, I would do it just in case

When I travelled/flew when pregnant each time, I made a point of calling so it could be "officially logged/noted"

Just dreaded the thought of insurers potentially turning round and saying it needed to be declared

Thankfully never needed any medical treatment abroad while pregnant
