hi guys,
i have herpes now for 6 years. during my first pregnancy i had a handful of outbreaks in the beginning but they luckily stopped and i was able to have a vaginal birth. this is my second pregnancy now and its different. i had no outbreaks until i turned 27 weeks. i got an outbreak that went and then a couple days later another would pop up and so on. im now freaking out. why is this happening? should i push for a c section? im going on antivirals from 36 weeks but what if they dont stop me getting outbreaks? anybody have any advice? all the feelings i had when first diagnosed have come flooding back x

Hey!!

That’s great news! How did you know your having an outbreak if you didn’t have any lesions? Did they do any special checks on the baby after? Xxx

I just had that weird feeling was abit painful! I’ve had it for years so I knew what it was was tingling and stuff, and nope not that I’m aware! They told me to keep an eye out for any blister kind of marks on her. She ended up with jaundice and was in for a week with that obviously completely unrelated but I mentioned it to them on the ward also and they checked him just as I was concerned but nothing! X

Oh ok! I’ve started taking acyclovir yesterday and will take it right up until labour so hopefully fingers crossed won’t have any outbreaks!! My first labour went fine and I was nowhere near this worried but that could be because I’ve had a lot more outbreaks this pregnancy. I think I’m ready for this baby to be born now lol x

Don’t panic they said to me it’s more common then what you think people just don’t talk about it xx

It’s just so scary when you read these stories about babies dying or going blind. Think I’m overthinking it was too much xx

Those cases are incredibly rare and most likely people who contracted the virus whilst pregnant. I know it's still scary though - I spent all my pregnancy worrying!
