Help, bump is really hurting and hard

I'm 32weeks pregnant and my bump is really hard and sore. The muscles hurt all around it and it actually hurts to touch it.

It's not cramping more like a pulled muscle couple days after exercise.

Is there anything I can do to make it go away. It's making moving hard and I have a toddler to run around after.

Thank you

I’m 30 weeks with the same as you. I’ve been told it’s Braxton Hicks. It’s hard to know whether you just put up with it or phone midwife as my pains have been quite bad x

I had similar when I was expecting. I think dd had just moved and shoved her bum against my tummy. It was so uncomfortable.

Please call the hospital and speak to the midwives; braxton hicks make your tummy go hard intermittently (e.g hard for 30 secs, then soft, then hard again several minutes later). If your tummy is permanently hard and tender to touch, you should report it straight away to a midwife.

I'm also 32w and mine has been like this for a few weeks now. I get Braxton Hicks constantly but this is different; as you say, it's more like how your muscles feel the day after doing exercise. It's especially bad when I get up after sitting for a while.

Possibly related, the top of my bump and ribs have hurt a lot for months and the skin in that area is either numb or sore to the touch, as if it was sunburnt.

I go to physio for the pain and, by doing an ultrasound, they were able to see that I have diastasis recti which is when your ab muscles separate as your bump grows. I have a 3.5 cm gap at the top so I put some of the soreness down to that stretching. It's pretty common during pregnancy. Just thought I'd mention it as something to consider...

I had a similar problem and it turned out I was carrying a lot of extra fluid, I’d get advice from a midwife

Braxton hicks for sure. I had them from like 28 weeks with DC3. I was rather nervous! I was running around a lot with DC2 and noticed I’d get them when I over exerted myself.

Tell your adau or labour ward now. They will need to make sure it’s not a placental abruption which causes a woody abdomen. Braxton Hicks only tends to cause temporary contractions.
