I've just been to group physio regarding pgp.

Advice was as follows:
Walk as little as possible, requesting any changes at work to support this
Get in and out of the car by opening the door wide and swinging both legs round together (sitting on a plastic bag can help the swivel)
Take steps one at a time or use a lift.
Get out of bed as one movement with your legs together, or roll over onto all fours and reverse off the bed
When sleeping try the recovery position with cushion support
If you sleep on your side with a pillow between your legs, when you roll over, again either go to all fours in one swift move and then twist to the other side, or try and roll fully from one side to the other without ungripping the pillow (I've found these impossible as I reach my dh before I've finished the roll)
If sitting on a sofa hurts then sit on extra cushions and pillows underneath and behind you so you are sat more forward and upright.
If that's still hard then can go on your knees/all fours and rest your head and arms on a sofa or gym ball as this means your hips don't have the weight of your bump.

For exercise sit on a gym ball and make hula hoop rotations slowly without your upper body moving (just your hips) if there is pain, stop and go the other way, so may end up doing more half circles.
Same as above but lifting each hip in a rocking motion side to side.
Go onto all fours and arch/relax your back and hips slowly.

Not sure how this will all work as I only had the session last week but I'm trying my best.

I had horrendous PGP - I don't want to make you feel worse but it only got better after I had my baby and 6 months on I still ache a bit.

Get a support belt
Ice on pelvic area each night
I liked a hot water bottle on my lower back
DP massaged my butt cheeks a lot as they were in a constant spasm 🙈

You can get physio through nhs but it's a long wait. See an osteopath privately if you can.

Good luck !

@doadeer any recommendations for support belt? There's about 3.5 million to choose from on Amazon...!

doadeer · 04/08/2019 17:57

I got one given by the physio let me try to see a pic of the style. I think next time I will need to go with something bigger and offering more support.

The advice on these I was given is don't wear it when you sit down, and not for too long. Only if you're moving around.

It wasn't this one but it looked a bit like this

@doadeer thanks for the tips! thankfully DH is always willing to help with massage, I've got really bad restless leg syndrome as well so I'm forever using him for somethingGrin

Any recommendations for support belts are welcome, I ordered one on amazon that had really good reviews but just did nothing for me

Check out the Pelvic Partnership's website. I used a recommended osteopath from their list after my pelvic pain continued after birth and it went away in 2 sessions. It was pricey but so worth it.

doadeer · 04/08/2019 18:02

Aw that's good on the massage front!

Maybe go to a physio and osteopath and they can advise on best belt for you?

Good luck! It's so rotten 😩

reeree95 · 04/08/2019 18:09

@Sleepthiefsmum18 definitely be looking in to it if I still feel like this after birth, can imagine it'll be worth the money!

Wear satin pj's in bed or what I found useful was a slide sheet in bed or one of those bed pads you can get in hospital.

So much easier to get in and out of bed as well as turning over. I always found bed time a nightmare. Never looked forward to it
