Tommee Tippee perfect prep cleaning

I've just bought a Tommee Tippee perfect prep, and am getting it ready. I used some cold steralising solution on its cleaning cycle, and then put some hot water through after. The hot water is coming out slightly cloudy, and I then put a 2nd lot of hot water through, and it was also cloudy. I'm really not confident in using it if the water is not clear. Any advice please?

Pretty sure you have to use cold tap water in the machine, hot water won’t work.. try running a cycle with cold water straight from your tap and see what happens..

I tried to put cooled (but still hot) boiled water in it once & didn’t work at all! The filter is there for a reason plus it heats up the water to 70degrees or above, which kills the bacteria!

*By cycle, I mean as if you were making a bottle milk.. so long as the water is red hot, you are all good.

Ah yes, that’s exactly what the cleaning instructions say. Flush with boiled water, drain & then use cold water to test! Smile

But when you do the boiled water make sure you take the filter out.

I just did 2 more cleaning cycles using cold water & vinegar (from the instructions) and it was clear. It may be my kettle making cloudy hot water. :(

I think you are being over cautious, that machine is spotless now. No need to clean it anymore! Is it an older machine you’ve used before or brand new?

Hot water can sometimes be cloudy. Caused by gas bubbles during the heating process & is totally harmless. Or potentially, if you are in a hard water area, it could be limescale in your kettle & it just needs a descale! When I lived in Hampshire, the limescale was ridiculous! I’m from Yorkshire where we don’t get any, it makes cleaning a lot easier!
