"Borderline" positive GTT result... anyone else?

Have had a bit of a rollercoaster few days... had my GTT and 28 week midwife appointment yesterday, the midwife took a FH measurement and found baby a bit on the small side so I have to go back to hospital for a growth scan next Friday.
Got a call today, GTT came back positive Sad apparently the cut-off point is 7.8, and I was... 7.8. So now I have to go to an information session, also next Friday.

The thing is I don't want to have to wait a whole week before I know anything, so apart from falling down the Google rabbit hole I was wondering if anyone else could share their experiences or offer some pearls of wisdom?

I was on 7.8 as well but told not to worry about it. I think different areas have different rules. If you are told you have gestational diabetes, there's a great charity and Facebook group who are far more up to date on research than the nhs. Most trusts still treat it as type 2 diabetes and it's a very different thing do do your own research.

Thanks Junobug. The midwife barely told me anything over the phone so I don’t know if I’m going to have to start testing myself or taking medication or what- I assume that’s something I’ll learn next week.

What is upsetting me though (apart from reading about all the risks to my baby- that was fun/a!) is that I also have IBS and flare ups are often triggered by eating or drinking stuff with sweetener in it, so I have to stay away from most sugar free drinks and food. So now, not only can I not have sugar-free stuff, I also can’t have stuff with regular sugar in it!

i had this with my 2nd and have one booked with my 3rd tues ..
What happened with me we saw the nurse had to have a group session explains about it what we should eat size portions etc .. it was very intimidating then she gives us a pack and a diary to prick our fingers 3-4 times a day after waking up breakfast dinner bedtime etc .. everyone’s was different ..
Every so often we would have to go back and have a check up see how it was going we was on a strict diet I done well keeping it at a level but did get to the point we’re even weetibx was doing me any good .. I had to start taking tablets
It was good as you did feel better but made you feel crap as the nurse made you feel like your a problem .. my advise take no notice have a balanced meal eat healthy etc but they will talk about nonsense also a nurse made a girl cry because she was being told horror stories turns out she had a perfectly healthy little girl 7lbs
I also had a perfect healthy little boy also 7lbs
Keep opened minded I will be induced a week early I’m due 13th jan so scrapping the due date now .. having growth scans x3 at the end
In the same with you have Ibs-d it’s exhausting as there’s only certain things I can eat without having a episode I am also very Active so it’s just all a bit intimidating..
Main thing is to control it it will be easier when u have your pricky pack and remember it will be ok x
