Hi there OP,

Just giving this a little bump, in case anyone that can help comes along Flowers

ImpossibleGirl86 · 02/08/2019 17:04

Hi OP,

Sorry you've been through this.

I had an ectopic pregnancy in November 2016, it ruptured so had left tubal removal.
We started trying again after about 3 months I think and conceived first time in Feb 2017. Baby girl was born early December 2017 so it can happen. Best of luck to you. Flowers

So sorry you have been through that, ectopic pregnacy’s are very traumatic 💐

I had one in December 2016 loosing my left tube and was unable to conceive afterwards. We did ivf in December/jan and it worked on my first go which is brilliant.

The vast majority of people who have had ectopics go on to conceive with no issues so I reckon you’ll be fine but if you do have issues then IVF is an option to fall back on, although not an easy process it can have good outcomes for people with tubal issues x

When you do fall pregnant just be sure to get an early scan to make sure all is well.

Good luck 💐

I lost left tube in January 2018 - moved on to ivf January 2019 but had another ectopic and lost right tube 3 weeks ago

We ll try IVF again and to be honest I feel less stressed this time as at least both tubes gone - I don't think I could go through another ectopic

Wiltshirelass2019 · 02/08/2019 19:17

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I’m sorry sorry you’ve had to go through that twice, how awful for you. I really wish you well on your next round 💐

DullPortraits · 02/08/2019 19:23

Personally after my ectopic we decided we weren't going to try again but we already have children. However i do know a few people who had successful pregnancies after theirs and I am positive it will happen for you too! Just make sure you go to your GP as soon as you know you are pregnant so they can monitor you and send you for an early pregnancy scan to check the location of your pregnancy is correct! Good luck ❤️

I had an ectopic pregnancy in September 2015 after 1.5 years of being off the pill with a very irregular cycle. Lost my right tube too, and during the surgery they found endometriosis (which I always suspected I had) though they said this wasn't the cause of the ectopic, it was just bad luck. We were due to be referred to fertility services anyway due to it taking so long to conceive. As part of that process I had a laparoscopy which showed deep endometriosis which couldn't be treated surgically.
To cut a long story short, we had IVF and were incredibly lucky to conceive on our first shot. Daughter was born October 2017.
Re-referred for a frozen cycle earlier this year and was given an appointment for 15th July BUT 3 weeks before that appointment we found out I am pregnant. Currently 10 weeks.
So YES it is absolutely possible to conceive with one tube!

Alpacaface · 03/08/2019 08:01

As @DullPortaits said, you should now be offered an early scan for subsequent pregnancies. In our area you just call the EPU directly for any subsequent pregnancies if you've had a previous ectopic. Sending love and all best wishes x

DuvetCaterpillar · 03/08/2019 08:04

Hi OP, I'm sorry for your ectopic, and to everyone else on this thread who has had one, they're awful to go through. Itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I'm so sorry you've been through it twice - what a warrior you must be. Good luck with the next cycle.

If you'd like some reassuring news, I had an ectopic pregnancy and left tube removal in Feb 2019, and I'm 6 weeks pregnant now, so it can happen again quite quickly. My consultant said that there are chemical signals in the remaining tube that attract eggs from either ovary down it so one can do most of the work of two tubes.

He said that for women with no underlying physical causes for the ectopic (so without any pelvic inflammation for instance, so it was just bad luck) the long term epidemiology studies suggest they conceive at more or less the same rate as unaffected women. The numbers are lower overall because women with physical causes or other risk factors are also included. I found that helped me to know.

Do make sure you get yourself in to a GP or EPU as soon as you know next time - I found I was really anxious until I knew this pregnancy wasn't ectopic, so the scans helped with that too. Have a look for the Penguin Huddle threads on the Conception board if you want to talk to more women in the same boat of TTC after losses - they're all very kind. Best of luck!

That's really interesting Duvet I didn't know that.

I had an ectopic and lost my right tube. I conceived within six months and now my DD is 4yo.

Best of luck OPThanks

Hello all,

Hope you don't mind me joining...

I had an ectopic December 2018, successfully treated with MTX. I was nervous about trying again & this is our first proper month trying so I am keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏽🤞🏽

I was told to call the EPU as soon as I get a positive so they can monitor my HCG levels.

I'm a very anxious person by nature but I have read lots of success stories so trying to keep any negative thoughts away

twinsagain77 · 11/08/2019 01:32

I had an ectopic a few years ago with the removal of my left fallopian tube, I went on to have 2 normal pregnancies and all went well. l'm so sorry for your loss and wish you all the best in your future pregnancy.

BabyPending · 29/08/2019 11:50

Hi everyone,

Thank you for contributing to this thread, it is giving me hope. I suffered an ectopic just last week and lost my left tube. Unfortunately this was following 2 previous MC as well so I'm pretty broken. I would appreciate any success stories following ectopic and MC to give me some hope we will have a baby one day xx

Peachee · 30/08/2019 21:35

Yes me.
I had an ectopic in 2009 and was TTC for 6 months.
I thought it was never going to happen but it did.
I'm now 24 weeks pregnant with my first.
I had one of my Fallopian tubes removed also.

BabyPending · 31/08/2019 07:49

@Peachee thank you for sharing and congratulations on your rainbow ❤️ how long were you trying after your ectopic? Xx

BlueTimesTwo · 31/08/2019 08:00

Ectopic pregnancies are really traumatic I agree, and I feel like they are treated as medical emergencies (which they obviously are) but the emotional aspect of the loss tends to get overshadowed by that and ignored.

I had one after 6 months TTC and was pretty devastated, was told to wait 3 months before trying again and then fell pregnant again straight away, so don’t be too discouraged about your future fertility.

Best of luck OP!

BabyPending · 31/08/2019 09:56

@BlueTimesTwo thank you so much for sharing. It helps to hear positive stories, I hope I follow suit xx

Peachee · 31/08/2019 23:19

I had an ectopic in 2009 when I was 19 and I didn't try again until last year. I'm now 29.
To cut a long story short I have a new partner now and it took around 6 months.
I was tracking ovulation for 5 of those months. The 6th month I went on holiday chose to forget about it and enjoy myself and low and behold it happened.
Xxx

Palomadorantez31 · 01/09/2019 16:13

Thank you for your response I hope it Will happen to me as well soon... Take care

@DullPortraits I know this thread is 2019 but curious to know do you ever regret not trying again for another child? I had ectopic pregnancy last month right fallopian tube removed. Have 2 gorgeous healthy kids and really torn as to whether to try conceive again. Any feedback ladies. X

Sunflower1235 · 15/03/2023 21:10

HELP!!!! New to mumsnet and confused and scared. Had surgery yesterday following an ectopic pregnancy (first pregnancy last year was a MMC), had my right tube removed so scared I will never get pregnant again. I am 33 years old with no child. Can I get pregnant with one tube?? Any success stories? Should I skip straight to ivf??

Sunflower1235 · 15/03/2023 21:11

Did u get pregnant?

DuvetCaterpillar · 15/03/2023 21:44

@Sunflower1235 Hello there, and I'm so sorry for your loss - an ectopic pregnancy is really hard to go through. I'm a few posts up from yours - it's definitely possible to get pregnant with only one tube. I conceived about five months after my ectopic pregnancy and left tube removal, and she's now a joyful three year old, so it can happen, although it feels very far away for you at the moment. You are in dark times now, but take some time to heal (I found some counselling sessions really helpful) and there can be hope again. Wishing you much love and strength.

DuvetCaterpillar · 15/03/2023 21:46

Oh, and I was 35 at the time, so older than you, if that helps. The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust are also terrific, do contact them.
