Membrane sweep + induction advice!

FTM having a membrane sweep in two days I will be 37+2. I am also booked in for an induction when I am 38+5. This is all due to developing a DVT during pregnancy and needing to be careful due to the blood thinning injections I have to take. This post I guess is to get advice from people that have been through similar? I have no idea what to expect and I am a little bit nervous. Anyone had a sweep this early and had the baby soon after? Only 22 years old and FTM so all new to me would just be at ease hearing some similar stories!

Hi lovely,

I'm also 22 and ftm to my little boy. I had a total of three sweeps and they didn't do much other than give me some discomfort - like a period pain. The induction however was very different. Don't be put off immediately by it, they are many horror stories.
I had a pessary which got me started, but it then stopped when it was removed. I ended up on a drip with the epidural. 34 hours in labour and he was here!

Not the birth I wanted, but honestly it couldn't have gone better. Now I've got a bouncy 6 month old! Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck lovely! Thanks

Hi OP, I had a great induction for DC2. Much better than my first labour (no induction). I had a couple of sweeps which did nothing and then had a couple of pessaries over two days to bring on contractions. It was a bit dull being in hospital for that time but the actual active labour was very quick.

I was 39 weeks when DC2 was born. Hope it all goes well for you!

I had 2 sweeps booked this week, one where it was all fine, not even uncomfortable, and she said it went well, but was ultimately unsuccessful. And then one with a different midwife today (well, weds so technically yesterday) where she couldn't reach my cervix very well so didn't manage to do it, just tried to pull the cervix forward a bit, and now I'm getting various stabbing pains in my vagina and cervix and have no idea if it's because something she did helped, soreness from how uncomfortable it was, or unrelated.

I am booked in for an induction next week at 41+4 so interested to hear how others got on with that.

I was induced at 37+4. 2 pessary 6 hours apart which got me to 3cm then they broke my waters and the baby was born 2 and a half hours later. Soon as those water broke all hell broke loose and I went to 10cm in an hour and a half. All in all it was a lot quicker than I thought it would be!

If you find any exams painful then ask for gas and air x

I had a sweep at 36+5 and 37+6. Baby was born at 38+1. I had a c section at 39 weeks.

I also tried reflexology, bouncing on the and using a breast pump.
