Down syndrome screening is high risk and baby is small

Hi, this is my first post but I’ve exhausted all the threads on here looking for answers or similar situations to me. So at 12 weeks + 3 I had my Down syndrome screening test and the next day it came back as high risk (1 in 8). Fast forward the week after I decided to have a CVS because I’d rather be prepared than not know. During that scan they told me part of my high risk was my Papp-a being low (0.28) and that my baby was measuring a lot smaller than was expected. Everything else seemed fine except for my placenta which was also small and narrow (as the consultant doing the cvs described it) so they could only get a small sample. Usually a CVS comes back in 3-4 days with a quick test and the full results in 2 weeks but because my sample was so small I was unable to have the quick sample done so now I’m having an agonising and worrying wait. I’ve also been booked in for a viability scan at 16 weeks because of baby being so small. I’m so worried and have no experience of this at all. I previously had twins with no complications at all so this is a scary shock for me. If anyone has any experience or has been in a similar situation to me I’d love to hear from you !x

Hi @Rentwinmama, you may want to post this in Antenatal Tests.

The waiting for results is the worst :(

Anyway, was it just the PappA that pushed your results up or nuchal fold measurement too? How about risk for the other trisomies?

I would talk to your screening midwife again, they are best placed to explain the process and risks / potential outcomes.

Thank you, I’ll re post it there.
My Nuchal Fold measurement was 2.8mm which I read is a little higher than normal but in other places I’ve read it can also be normal. I only had one meeting with the screening midwife and haven’t seen her since. I think I’ll get more chance to speak once the results come in x
