Hi all,
I'm currently 13 1/2 weeks pregnant. First trimester was OK, sick a few times, quite a bit of nausea but generally not bad at all.
However for the past 3 days I have been vomiting about 4/5 times, like alot each time. And when I lay down to sleep my heart beats scarily fast and I feel light headed. No matter how much I take deep breaths I can't seem to calm down. I eventually fall asleep but it's broken sleep. When I wake up in the morning I still have these palpatations but they do stop however I still feel unwell.
Last night was particularly bad that I went to A&E, I had a urine sample, blood sample and ecg done and all results came back fine (thank god) however I had an episode in the waiting room and on my return home vomited again.
I know I may sound silly and I'm sure there's ladies out there with worse pregnancy problems than this but is this pregnancy? I can't help but think there's something wrong but all results came back fine. Currently laying down on my sofa feelin unwell, headache, shoulder pain and just yuck. I thought you felt better in 2nd trimester but I feel worse.
Has anyone else had this? The Dr said I may be anxious and ive never suffered from anxiety before but I didn't think feelin unwell and vomiting was part of anxiety. I'm not fussed about the vomiting, more the fast heartbeat which is so out of the norm for me, it feels so scary I really hope this isn't it for the next 6 months Sad

Xxx

Doesn't sound normal to me! I would go to your GP today and talk to them, they may be able to do some more tests. It may be helpful to try to keep a log of your heart rate (ideally your resting heart rate when you wake up in the morning, before you've tried to move or got up) and when you're throwing up. If they're a bit dismissive that can be really helpful to show them to demonstrate something's wrong. In my experience doctors are very quick to dismiss a fast heart rate as anxiety!

There's lots of things it could be that aren't very serious, such as having caught a bit of a tummy bug, which will lead to an increased heart rate as your body fights it off - you might be more aware of your heart during pregnancy due to blood pressure changes. But sensible to keep track of what's going on with you, especially if it continues.

Silly question but are you laying on your back? As that can make you feel dizzy and unwell in pregnancy.
I would still go to the GP today though

I had palpitations a lot in the 2nd trimester. They went by the 3rd. Sorry you're not feeling well. I'd check in with your midwife I'm case she wants to do any other monitoring

I had heart palpitations a lot from about 11-15 weeks, but I had it last pregnancy too so I wasn't too worried. They did stop though and I don't get them any more. I don't think they are uncommon but if you are worried you should go and see your GP. The same with being light headed. Again I suffered from this about the same stage but it has now gone (now 21 weeks). Your blood volume increases by about 50% in pregnancy and your blood vessels dilate (due to hormones) so it is pretty common to get light headed too. You done the correct thing going to A&E though, and if you still don't feel great then go back and see your GP Smile
