I know they say this is normal but my god it's getting to me now, I seem to have to spend my days on my left side trying to breathe.

I can't stand up for long or move around without literally feeling like I'm going to faint because I'm so short of breath.
I'm supposed to be going to see a consultant at my local hospital in an hour (it's an hours drive away though!) and I've had to cancel because I can't stand up, I can't drive and I definitely can not wait on those waiting room chairs for an hour and a half (standard waiting time at the hospital).

Has anyone else got this/had this problem, I feel like a complete cripple Sad

Have you tried pregnancy yoga? They do certain poses and stretches that give you more room if you feel short of breath. I’m only 29 weeks but starting to feel quite tight at times and the stretches really help. Check YouTube x

This can be a sign of pre eclampsia. Please go to see your doctor

Definitely go and get it checked by a Dr.

I have had a lot of breathlessness and having to lie on my side throughout this pregnancy.

I have anaemia, showed up on a later blood test as I moved areas, the tablets prescribed helped a lot.

At around 33 weeks my heart was racing and I couldn’t catch my breath, I went in to have baby checked as he was very still but they did a few tests on me to try and see what was happening. Nothing bad was found, but it was so reassuring to know it was just a pregnancy thing. They checked for clots and all sorts because of it (and the heart rate).

It happens less now I’m nearly 38 weeks and he has dropped down a bit, but I panic a lot less when it does happen knowing it is a pregnancy thing rather than anything worse.

Don't want to worry you but you need to see someone to rule out a pulmonary embolism. I've had one- I was short of breathe, and every time I took a deep breathe it felt like I was being stabbed in the back.
Alternatively you might just have a baby pressing on your diaphragm not leaving you much room! I'm sure it's the latter but please speak to someone to rule out a P.E.

I'm already on blood thinners as a precautionary measure due to a DVT in my first pregnancy. (That's why I'm supposed to be going to the consultant, general check in) ... I told the receptionist yesterday I couldn't make it in as physically can't do it/cope with not being able to lie down for several hours, she said midwife would call me.

I've also had swelling (not so much now it's cooled down) with this pregnancy and carpal tunnel but I don't think that's related to the breathlessness.

I have an anterior placenta so can't feel baby much anyway, only on one side.

the breathlessness did ease off a bit yesterday in the end so maybe baby shifted? Thanks so much for all your help, I will moan about my problems to the midwives :)

I hope the midwife can help, it’s an awful feeling. Hopefully they will do all the checks, rule anything out.

My feet and ankles have been dreadful in this heat, I took a photo the other day just to remember how weird they looked!

Is this your second? I have found it so hard keeping DD (4) entertained while needing to lie down, be sick, not faint etc.... she can’t wait for baby to arrive!

hereforasillygoosetime · 31/07/2019 14:22

@Shahlalala it's my third, but I have big age gaps between so luckily my eldest dd is being an absolute star helping me out around the house...so frustrating being so limited compared to being non preggo though!

The swelling is awful isn't it GrinI never had it with my last two so was a bit of a shock when it started this time around!

Every member of the family is looking forward to me not being pregnant anymore...but then I will be moaning about lack of sleep GrinGrinGrin
