My employer has not included anything about maternity pay in the contract I have been given. Any advise on this??

Our isn’t in our contracts, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in a contact come to think of it - but it is available in the staff handbook which we can find online at my current place of work xx

Mine wasn't in my contract, but is held on our system within general policies and also the handbook.
It's one of the items that many people query as companies should openly state maternity pay in job interviews or on adverts as benefits such as enhanced packages can be a game changer and it's not like you will ask about maternity benefits at interview stage.

If employers included everything in their employment contracts they'd get very long and unwieldy. They will probably have a policy giving details of any enhanced maternity pay if they offer it. Nothing you can do about it either way! If there is no policy stating enhanced pay is available, then assume you'll get statutory only.

That's what I thought. I didnt dare to ask in interview as they had been interviewing people for like 3 months and I was desperate for the job.

If you were desperate for the job why would you need to ask in interview anyway? Surely that would only be necessary if it would make a difference to whether you accepted the job or not?

And if so, I still wouldn't advise asking in interview- ask when the job is offered if you need to know before accepting.

All company's are required to pay statutory maternity pay regardless of this being in the contract or not. Maternity details are never in the employment contract as it is a policy. This should be where they store other company policies and procedures/employee handbook.
