Student midwife caseloading?

Has anyone else said yes to this and what was their experience? I had my booking app today with mw who had student mw with her. She was really lovely and she just made me feel really comfortable. I didn't know this was a thing but I'm thinking of saying yes, as feel if anything it's more support and help for me. This is how she explained it to me in case my header doesn't cover it -

As part of the course they do a bit of case loading whereby they see a woman all through the pregnancy journey and birth. It would basically involve the student attending appointments and scans, catching up at points through the pregnancy, supporting me in labour and just generally being a support and person I can ask questions too.

I was under caseloading cars with DC1, albeit with qualified mws on a caseloading team. I would bite their hand off. It is rare in NHS care to have true continuity of care throughout including the birth and postnatal period.

Say yes!
The same student midwife delivered both of my babies :) She was utterly wonderful and in my second pregnancy I was her case study, she came with me to lots of appointments and was waiting for me when I arrived in labour. She was an incredible advocate and support to me, knew my whole history and I honestly break into a huge smile when I think about her. Without her I’d have had zero continuity, which I know would have probably fine, but it was such a different experience to have someone follow me all the way through. I hugely recommend biting their hand off!

Thank you for both your replies! I think your right, she seems lovely and we did get on straight away. I know if I was studying I'd be really thankful for the person I'd ask say yes to me.

I think I'll say yes and with it being my first pregnancy I think I'll really appreciate having the same person there making me feel more comfortable 😀🤞🏽

Yes! I’ve done it but with student doctors. It was fab.
