Someone please help me so confused :(

Can someone please help me understand what's going on.

7 days ago I took a test and there was a very faint line as you can see. I always thought it doesn't matter how faint the line is it's still picking up the hormone?

I tested again with both frer and clear blue over a few days and all tests have come out negative.

In terms of my cycle I'm a bit unsure what's normal as I just came off the pill a few months ago. The last few cycles have been 30 days, then 44, and now I'm on day 53.

I rang gp to ask their advice and they just said to wait a week and test again and she seemed quite confused by it herself/ But she was just fobbing me off and I know it won't be positive in a week - how could that be possible when they are all showing up negative a week after a faint line!

I just feel so upset and confused. It feels like I'm stuck in limbo. Either waiting for my period after a very long cycle because I got a false positive, or wait to bleed if it's been a chemical. But seems unlikely I wouldn't have bled already.

Does anyone have any clue what could be happening to me? Can't even try again as I haven't bled yet so just so frustrating and confusing!

Hey there you have yourself in a right old 'tis deep breathes. Have you been trying for a while? Look I'm no expert other than 2 kids and 5 pregnancy's but if the test says negative then you have to accept that your not pregnant this month. I'm struggling to see a line in the test you have shown but if there is a faint line then maybe there was a chemical pregnancy for a moment this happens a lot and then nothing comes of it.
Your stress level will be throwing g your cycle right now so try and have a long bath and do things that help you relax and be good to yourself you sound like you are giving g yourself a hard time.

Tini17 · 25/07/2019 03:52

Sorry OP, I can’t see a line on there.
As PP said, you may have had a chemical. It is common, sadly, and not a lot your GP can do about it.
It can take an age for cycles to return to normal after coming off the pill.
Try not to let it stress you out.

Alicia870 · 25/07/2019 07:59

Thank you - I really know I'm not pregnant at the minute, but just can't understand why I'm not bleeding. But do you think it's more likely I just have a really long cycle this month? How M I supposed to know when I'm ovulating?
I have an almost 10 month old but feel so broody again and didn't want them too far apart. With her I conceived first month so not used to this

I had a similar 'long cycle' when we were ttc. The doctor suggested it might have been a 'missed event'. I think by this he meant a conception that didn't implant correctly. I have a long cycle normally and have been told in that past that if you have a long cycle you are likely to ovulate late during that period, and a short cycle you ovulate early.

Sajacas · 25/07/2019 08:13

It does sound like you need to sit down with your doctor and discuss the irregular periods.
It might be nothing, tiredness or stress, but it could be an indication of something else.

cranstonmanor · 25/07/2019 08:16

The photo looks negative to me, sorry. You could have pcos if you have irregular cycles, might be worth checking out

Waiting1987 · 25/07/2019 08:20

Are you breastfeeding? This can stop your period returning or affect cycles. I’ve had one period in 18 months.

I can’t see a positive line. Could it possibly be an evap line if it has no colour?

Good luck

Rememberallball · 25/07/2019 17:37

It’s possible that, after being on the pill for a few months post the birth of your DC, your cycle is a bit out of kilter and you are regularly ovulating. One of the things that will happen if you haven’t ovulated is that you can miss your period completely and the will have a cycle where you do ovulate.

You may have to be patient until your period arrives (perhaps in another week or 2 based on a 28-30 day regular cycle with one being anovulatory) and then start tracking your ovulation to get an idea of your cycle. Then, if that shows you’re not ovulating regularly or if your cycle remains irregular, you can approach your Dr about doing some blood tests to look at your hormone levels - but they are reluctant to act too quickly and usually you have to have missed 2-3 cycles in a row or have been TTC for at least 1 year if under 35 or 6 months if over 35!!

Alicia870 · 25/07/2019 20:18

@Rememberallball that's really interesting I didn't know that could happen. It's weird because today I've actually felt a couple of twinges that I would normally feel when ovulating. So I wonder if that's what could be happening now and then I'll be due to get my period in another 2 weeks- or bfp possibly!
Do ovulation tests work has anyone tried these?

Fatted · 25/07/2019 20:23

OP when I had my first baby I had really erratic cycles after coming off the pill. I would have 4 week cycles the next one would be 3 months. I'd not had a period for 3 months when I fell pregnant with him.

It is really stressful, especially if it was quick with your first. I was the opposite, took ages with the first and first month with my second.

Alicia870 · 25/07/2019 20:47

@Fatted do you mind if I ask with your first baby, if you hadn't had a period for 3 months, were you just doing regular pregnancy tests? When did you find out you were pregnant and could they only date it from a scan?

OP posts:
sneakypinky · 25/07/2019 21:12

Sorry OP, that looks like a negative.

Rememberallball · 26/07/2019 08:00

@Alicia870, yes ovulation tests can work along with observing your cervical mucous at different points in your cycle and charting/tracking your basal body temperature (have a look online about how to do these and how they work)..

The thing to remember with ovulation tests is that, to be positive, you have to have the test line the same colour or darker than the control line. The digital ones that use flashing and static smiley faces can be easier to interpret - but, understandably, are more expensive. Have a google about trials run by Clearblue using OPK’s (I did a couple of trials testing their opks a couple of years ago and they supply the equipment and full instructions for how to complete the trial) to see if they have any on the go at the moment.

Good luck x

eurochick · 26/07/2019 16:08

Sorry but that test looks negative to me.

carseatsmom · 26/07/2019 16:11

I don't see any line on the test. If you feel confused, the best way to call your doctor or nurse and discuss all your options.
Don't give up and stay positive!

Everafter1 · 26/07/2019 16:36

I can see a line, it is very faint. I've pointed to it on the pic. Is that where you're seeing it?
It is confusing as you'd expect it to get stronger with the next test. You just want a positive or for it to come so you can try again!
Ovulation tests didn't work for me. I tried both of the clearblue's and cheaper tests. They never showed ovulation. I ended up concerned I wasn't ovulating so I gave up. I'm now 20 weeks pregnant.
I hope you get your positive soon 🤞🏻

Someone please help me so confused :(
Alicia870 · 26/07/2019 22:37

Thanks for the input- yea that is where I see a line though of course it is very faint.
Just have no idea what was going on there.
I still have no bleeding and I'm on day 55 now. It's just a waiting game now I guess.
If I have no bleeding after another 2 weeks I'll test again in case I have ovulated very late.
Isn't it true that your period should generally come 14 days after you ovulate no matter how long your cycle?
This is all so bloomin confusing

OP posts:
EarringsandLipstick · 26/07/2019 22:44

Yes period will come 14 days or so after ovulation. Long cycle = late ovulation

It would be worth getting your doctor to check your thyroid function. Your cycles being longer than usual can be an indication of this and under active thyroid is problematic in pregnancy.

Good luck 💐

Bol87 · 27/07/2019 10:06

Ovulation tests def helped me get pregnant this time. I used the cheap ones from Amazon. The cycle I fell pregnant, I kept on testing past when I expected to ovulate (I normally have very regular cycles) & sure enough it was positive 3 days later. I wasn’t overly well that week & probably wouldn’t have summoned the energy if it wasn’t for the rest!

Your CM is also really helpful. It’s a bit gross to google but you’ll get a specific type during ovulation. I find it very noticeable & I always get a period 13 days after it stops.

Alicia870 · 30/07/2019 20:06

Hi ladies so since that last time I posted after feeling some ovulation type twinges I've just had some brownish/pinkish discharge- a tiny amount today. No actually bleeding yet.

Could there be a chance this could actually be implantation bleeding? I know there's no way to really tell if I ovulated last week but since when I felt the twinges I'd be 5 dpo now. Is it possible?

OP posts:
whoknows7 · 30/07/2019 20:41

OP I’ve found FRERs so unreliable I had similar faint positives blood test came back

Alicia870 · 30/07/2019 20:56

@whoknows7 thanks - it was very odd but I've completely accepted that wasn't a confirmation of pregnancy. I really just want to move on and start again but I also do have a feeling that I didn't ovulate when I should have last month and that's why I still have no period.

But I'm just thinking if I did ovulate last week when I felt pangs and I've got some spotting now maybe this could be implantation - or maybe that would just be too good to be true!
