Mam without a doubt. We started with avent. 2 days later she was so poorly with wind etc. We got them and the difference was instant. Plus self sterilsing so got rid of the steriliser too.

Dr brown

Mam Anti colic self sterilising ones.

They are just brilliant. We didn't have a hint of colic with our baby.

SeraphinaDombegh · 24/07/2019 22:25

The best ones I found in terms of size and shape were Nuk. Mimic a real nipple better than most, and good air flow through the valves.

CatInADoghouse · 24/07/2019 22:29

Another vote for MAM self sterilising bottles. They were brilliant!

Expressedways · 24/07/2019 22:34

Another vote for Mam! You do need a microwave for the self sterilising though.

JustLikeJasper · 24/07/2019 22:37

Mam!

kkl1 · 24/07/2019 23:35

Mam

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 24/07/2019 23:37

Mam. We did buy an electrical steriliser for them as it was easier.

badtime · 24/07/2019 23:37

NUK.

Starlight84 · 25/07/2019 00:08

I’m going for the mam self sterilising ones :)

Thattwatoverthere · 25/07/2019 00:13

My DD had tommee tippee but my DS tried them and just didn't get on with them so Mam for him. He still wont use one of hers now.
You might have better luck but I wouldn't buy too many just in case you have a similar issue. Keep hold of any samples you get which is how I knew Mam would be ok.

Bol87 · 25/07/2019 19:33

Dr Brown fan last time.. they stopped colic completely! They were a bit fiddly to wash but no huge deal.

I’m curious by Mam though .. are they an anti-colic bottle too?

Starlight84 · 25/07/2019 19:55

@Bol87 the ones I’m looking at I’m sure they say they are x

itshappened · 25/07/2019 19:55

Definitely mam bottles. They are the only ones that really help reduce wind.

Starlight84 · 25/07/2019 19:58

Yes definitely say anti colic :) I’m going to get them payday while cheap on amazon. I’m only 16weeks but doing this alone and with other children as well I’m having to budget and stagger things through the month! Xx

Xyzzzzz · 25/07/2019 19:58

I’ve bought tommy tippee ones anti colic ones.

Bobbiepin · 25/07/2019 19:59

Although I also really recommend MAM bottles, don't get more than a couple. If you baby doesn't get on with them, you're stuck. You might need to try a few brands before you find the best one for your baby (but totally start with MAM)

Jwww562 · 25/07/2019 20:00

Another vote for Mam!

Lunafortheloveogod · 25/07/2019 20:06

Every baby is different, you might have a lucky shot n a baby who feeds great off the first bottle. We bought tommee tippee, ds was soaked with milk couldn’t get a good latch, latch was ok but too slow (next teat up was too fast), hated nuk with a passion, wasn’t too bad with tiny grip tight cheapies but couldn’t take the larger size (small ones only fit 90ml bottles), mam was ok for a bit didn’t realise it was giving him trapped wind (the colic valve seals very easily) and worsening reflux, tried the tommee tippee anti colics (by 3 months assuming he maybe had suckling down) and we discovered 3 out of 4 we bought were faulty.. gave up on tommee tippee after their shocking customer service and after all that faffing were on dr browns 😂. He’s not as windy or sick.. latch isn’t fantastic but he’s not soaking or wet with milk just isn’t hooked onto the bottle like mam but he’s comfier so that’s the main thing.

All my friends used tommee tippee with no issues Hmm my ds might just be an awkward baby Confused

WhyDoesItAlways · 25/07/2019 20:11

We used mam and thought they were fab. I've seen a good deal on the strayer kit on Amazon recently. Think it's was about £19 for a load of bottles and tests. You can get them in unisex colours too if you don't know the sex yet.

beforeIhit30 · 25/07/2019 20:11

I also say buy a few and see how you go. Sometimes brands have ‘newborn starter packs’ which often go on sale, usually something like 2 bigger bottles and 2 smaller bottles and maybe an extra something (a bottle brush for instance), and you can pick them up for £15ish or less in a sale. Alternatively ignore the big packs (with like 10 bottles, a steriliser etc) and just buy plain packs of bottles. Much cheaper.

For instance, this time around (DC3) we’re trying Tommee Tippee closer to nature. They’re very common around here so I’ve known other parents using them who found them easy to clean, assemble and baby got on fine with them. I bought 6 bottles on Amazon for £12.99. Hopefully they’ll be fine, but if not we can try something else.

For DC1 we used Philips Avent which were fine, they were a ‘natural’ one as well (designed to be more breast-like, in a bottle way anyway) but I find the Avent bottles aren’t as commonly available or promoted these days.

With DC2 we tried a Mothercare one which was also a ‘natural’ one, again fine (and again they don’t seem to exist anymore!).

I originally thought of getting Mam as it’s so raved about, until a relative got them. There seemed to be several parts to put together and she got fed up and bought some regular bottles; one of my friends tried Dr Brown and felt the same, great for anti colic but a faff if you don’t need it. As she put it, you really don’t want to add more hassle than necessary when making a bottle in the middle of the night - I figured she had a point!

So I would suggest buying a fairly simple bottle that is readily available/popular (like Tomme Tippee, or whatever else people are buying, as I said that seems to be the main one around here but might be different elsewhere), and if you have any issues like colic then explore the specific bottles for that purpose.
