Where to buy baby clothes?

So my pregnancy is plodding along nicely and the organised freak inside of me wants to ensure I have a few of each item in a unisex colour ready.
That being said, I'm really struggling to find suitable sleepsuits (I can find billions of baby vests but not the long armed / legged ones). Anyone got any great recommendations other than supermarkets? 😊

John Lewis and Marks and Spencer are my go to for sleepsuits. Next do plenty too.

I loved H&M for basics. Their sizing is slightly different to the usual 0-3/3-6 which worked really well mixed in with our gifted stuff, it washed well, looks nice and fitted well and was reasonable and lots of choice.

Sainsbury's have lovely bits

PixieLumos · 20/07/2019 21:37

Matalan

NEtoN10 · 20/07/2019 21:37

I buy all mine from M&S - I really like the feel. And outfits/shorts I buy from h&m. Fun pieces I like blade and rose

Really good sale on baby clothes in Gap at the moment, big selection online especially.

firstimemamma · 20/07/2019 21:38

Mothercare is great for sleepsuits but expensive so maybe just get a few from there. They do nice ones with built-in scratch mitts.

Most of my nearly 1 year old's clothes are from Sainsbury's and we are happy (softness, style, durability etc) Smile

I'm not usually a high street clothes for kids fan, but Next undoubtedly have the best sleepsuits. I also really loved zippy sleepsuits though. SO much easier. Sainsbury's sometimes have the odd one or two, Gap and H&M sometimes, but they are better and cheaper from America/Canada. Old Navy and Carter's great if you don't mind paying the shipping.

Next for me, they have the hand bits so you can cover baby’s hand so they don’t scratch and they have a different coloured popper to help as well, just a few nicer touches and they are lovely as well.

We didn’t buy too many clothes before our dd was born and received some really lovely sleepsuits as gifts. Our favourites were Mothercare and Next ones, and luckily both were easy to exchange in without a receipt as dd came out much bigger than expected and didn’t fit in newborn size at all. I’m quite glad we didn’t look before she was born as we’d have spent an absolute fortune, the clothes are all so lovely. We’ve got her some lovely things from sainsurys too but our local store is fairly small and doesn’t have a great selection.

CrazyOldBagLady · 20/07/2019 21:45

Marks and Spencer do some nice ones. Mamas and Papas are good quality too. Frugi have an end of season sale on at the moment. As do Kite and Toby Tiger. If you like whacky prints check out some of the Scandinavian brands like Maxomorra, Duns, JNY. You can get all that stuff on the Babipur website who also have sales on at the moment.

CrazyOldBagLady · 20/07/2019 21:47

Boots is another one to check out, they do cute prints at reasonable prices.

coffeeaddiction · 20/07/2019 21:48

Next is my favourite

Ratbagratty · 20/07/2019 21:48

Of your happy with pre owned, Facebook selling sites and eBay are full of options. Good for the pocket and the environment!

Drogosnextwife · 20/07/2019 21:49

Next sleepsuits are lovely and they wash better than any of the supermarket ones.

SoftSheen · 20/07/2019 21:49

For newborn basics, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Sainsburys are good quality and good value.

JoJoMamanBebe do really good quality sleep suits and Polarn O. Pyret also have some lovely baby things, but both are more expensive.

Orangedaisy · 20/07/2019 21:51

Buy a few bundles cheap on eBay to get you started, or rummage in charity shops (often small sizes brand new with tags). Then once you know your baby, what you and they like and you have been given a ton of gifts, top up with nice stuff that you know you actually need. While new baby clothes are lovely it’s a waste of money buying them imo.

Rarfy · 20/07/2019 21:53

I know you said not supermarket but Asda George were probably our best along with some organic John Lewis ones. Pat attention to how they button up, we got a couple from next where the poppers started on one leg. I found them a nightmare as you have to get a full leg in first and then the side with the poppers always seemed to gape on the leg.

I liked Asda George as lots of there's have matching bibs. I thought I wouldnt use bibs then dd started slavering. I loved having her in her sleep sui (pj's) and matching bib when we had visitors on an evening. Especially just after a bath. Mega cute.

Another Next fan here. The Next sleepsuits are far superior to anywhere else - and, having had three babies, we have had our fair share of M&S, John Lewis, GAP and Mothercare too. The Next sleepsuits wash beautifully and sizing is spot on.

ruralcat · 20/07/2019 21:58

John Lewis, M&S, jojo, white company. I'v tried a few supermarket ones in the past that had been given as gifts but they never seem to wash as well.

Bol87 · 20/07/2019 22:30

Find yourself a sale! I had some delightful sleepsuits from Mothercare, Next & Boots sales.. also some really nice ones from Aldi with flamingos & giraffes on (separate suits, they’d look a bit bizarre on the same one Grin ) in their baby event.. JL do beautiful baby clothes but quite pricey. The quality is excellent but I had both JL & Aldi and they’ve washed & worn very much the same!

gkeal3 · 20/07/2019 22:38

For me next have the best sleepsuits. Love the quality of them and the built in scratch mittens x

sl07 · 20/07/2019 22:51

Debenhams do some nice ones in the Jasper Conran section :) x

KnobJockey · 20/07/2019 22:57

What's your style? What colours do you like? Patterned or plain?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/07/2019 22:58

I loved next sleepsuits with mine. If I were looking to buy unisex sleepsuits now I'd g3t these.
