I’m 14 weeks pregnant and fainted whilst out on Saturday. I’m pretty sure I just hadn’t drank enough, and my blood pressure dropped, but my husband feels like I should ring the midwife. I don’t want to bother her unnecessarily, and I’m seeing her next Tuesday anyway. Has anyone had similar experiences?

I had hyperemesis with my first baby and I had a few fainting episodes - like you say, mainly due to a big drop in blood pressure asthe sheer amount of vomiting had made me incredibly dehydrated.
I’m with your husband on this though - always best to get checked out just to be sure it’s nothing to worry about.

you're pregnant. The priority is not "whether you want to bother anyone" it's the baby and your health. Go get checked out. Be on the safe side. ALWAYS. Between now and the bub being born, you'll have a lot of "just in case" check ups probably - they're normal. And everyone in medicine and looking after you will tell you to come in, you're never judged for doing so.

Agree with PP x

Go to your GP and get your blood pressure checked

Just give them a call. If there's nothing to worry about then they'll tell you that, and you'll only have taken up a couple of minutes of their time. If they do think you need to get checked out then they can advise the best way of going about that. Better safe than sorry i think!

Def go get checked, I been suffering from low blood sugar (the opposite of G. Diabities) and there have been occasions when I'm out on my own and decked it. At least now I know to keep something high in sugar with me and have been able to make changes from fast burning carbs to slow.

Thanks guys! I can’t get in touch with the midwife today as she is on annual leave. I’ll try again in the morning. Thanks for all your advise x

@MrsJ1906 it’s your DR (GP) that you need to see if you’re fainting not your MW.

MrsJ1906 · 16/07/2019 09:42

Hi @Blahblahblahnanana thanks, I managed to see the GP yesterday been diagnosed with a UTI. Thanks for all your help

@MrsJ1906 no problem, glad it’s nothing too serious. I think people think because a woman is pregnant that it’s the midwife they need to see which it isn’t the case for general health issues.
