Applying for job while pregnant

I'm v early in pregnancy at the mo (5+5) with a very much wanted baby following infertility treatment. This felt like it was never going to happen and I'm over the moon, but slightly worried on impact on my career. I was about to start applying for a promotion! Do I:
A) Apply anyway, asap, and not tell them until I get it (if I do)
B) Give up with idea of promotion until after baby
C) Carry on applying throughout pregnancy, but be honest with them at interview/not hide it if showing?
If it makes any difference I'm Civil Service, well established and would be applying across government. I don't need the money, but it would always be nice. At the moment I have a good amount of flexibility which I worry I might lose a bit of. Thoughts?

Congratulations!

Apply and announce at 12 weeks (or whenever you would have shared the news anyway). The odds are that you will have a successful pregnancy (if that's the right word!), but if not, you don't want to be feeling bereft with no pregnancy and no promotion. More optimistically, 9 months is a long time, you can still be working for a while, and it's great to get ahead before taking time out for maternity leave, and to have a great new role to come back to Smile

At this early stage I would apply and not mention it. I would not tell work before 12 weeks in any case.
If at a later stage I would tell them either at interview or when offered the promotion. I wouldn't want to be discriminated against but nor would I want to make things awkward for them or create bad feeling so it would depend on the situation.
On the other hand I found pregnancy took my mind off work and I wasn't giving very good value to my boss, what with morning sickness and tiredness. So there might be an advantage in just sticking with the current role too...just depends how you feel!
