Hi all! We've just found out were expecting again at 38/39! I didn't think I'd be doing this again so close to 40!! I'm going to be the oldest mum at every antenatal class, baby group etc going aren't I?? 😩
I'd really like to connect with other mums-to-be out there....any takers?

I'm 36 and pregnant with my first, when I went to see my GP he just kept going on about me being an "older mum" - not helpful!

Rude @Zag29 I am 40 next month and it's not been mentioned once so far. I suspect it will be at my consultant appointment at 16 weeks though.

What type of things did he say? Are you thinking of making a complaint?

Megan2018 · 17/07/2019 16:46

You are hardly old!

I am 31+6 with my first at 41. Nowhere near the oldest at anything so far.

He mentioned the higher risks, and there would be additional tests and certain things to look out for - I think he was just trying to be helpful and give me the information that would help, it just scared me a bit and prompted more research on my part - I don't think i'd make a complaint, my friend who was my age when she had her first said her GP basically did the same, must just be our area!

I think the only additional test I have been offered is the amniocentesis and that is optional.
