Hi ,

Wondering if anyone can help me.

My partner and myself have just found out I am pregnant. I have pcos so it wasn’t expected , we think I am about 8 weeks pregnant. I am due to start my 3rd and final year of my degree in September. After this I will go onto do a PGCE.
Estimated the baby will be due around the end of Feb.

Just wondering what additional income I will be entitled too if any?
I am 23 years of age.

Thanks :)

Check out your university's maternity policy - some will offer alternative accommodation, subsidised childcare, et cetera. Assuming you're not living with parents (it's complicated how they work that out for students!) you should be entitled to additional child support, but if I were you I'd go to the nearest council office and ask there.
It's going to be hard going finishing your third year and having a baby, so remember to look up how to defer in case you need to (although plan not to - that's the spirit!). There's also going part time, so you complete the work over a longer period and can juggle childcare more easily. Depends on other circumstances. Is your partner also in his third year? Do you have parental support?

My partner is a few years old than me and is working full time.

I am living at home and I commute into uni 3 times per week I drive it’s about an hour each way.

My mums isn’t all that pleased, she’s very traditional, I haven’t told my dad yet. X

I looked in to this a couple of years ago and would've been entitled to absolutely zilch. You won't get smp or mat allowance and any benefits will be based off your partners income so if he earns a good/average wage then you'll likely get nothing too. Sorry OP.

Hi thanks

I’ve made a few phone calls and done some enquiries he’s on the lower end of the pay scale so we would be entitled to some
things
I am also entitled to a learning fund via university and a parents allowance when the baby is born :)
