VBAC 20 months after CS - success stories

Hi

Has anyone had a successful VBAC 20 months after CS?

First pregnancy; had gestational diabetes. Was induced at 38 weeks due to preeclampsia. First attempt at induction failed, 2nd attempt was going brilliantly and I made it to 6cm but then stopped progressing. So whisked off for CS.

I'm currently 30 weeks. I have gestational diabetes again and being encouraged to try for VBAC. Very supportive consultant and so far no issues or reasons not to try. I would love to avoid CS due to recovery but I am absolutely terrified of possible rupture and putting baby at any form of risk.

Any advice from any GD ladies out there who successfully VBAC with same or similar gap between births(20 months)

Not quite the same gap (mine was 28 months) but I understand the fear. The risk of rupture is small in real terms, and then even a smaller percentage of ruptures are actually life threatening complete ruptures. In general the reason vbac is safe is because rupture comes with indications that it’s going to happen and you’ll be well monitored for them. My vbac was born at home safely in January

@GookledyGobb

Congratulations on the VBAC & the baby! I guess I need to understand more in terms of how I'll be monitored and what to look out for myself

If you’re in hospital they’ll do continuous monitoring (aka a strapped on monitor) to listen to the babies heart rate which is a good indicator. As is pain between contractions.
